nope. no standards... Positive when it come to elevators. With certain institutions like hosipitals sometimes building codes in your locality apply. But those can vary I'm pretty sure from county or state to state. So I'd say not not a chance of any standard. Which is in harmony wit everything else I know about my community.

Without the TTS I think its probably impossible to use without help. And I've never used the TTS but who knows how crappy that is but I wouldn't be surprised.
I'm with you bro. I'm one of your fellow brethern... Still low vision thought but I use braille for a lot. I'm pretty sure ATM to ATM the keys are different and it's just redicuous. With out the Text to Speech I can't imagine using it unless you had somebody walk you through it.. and you memorized how a particular ATM machine worked.
I wouldn't say DNSSEC doesn't do anything... A year and half ago with a few minutes of UDP packets you could change any DNS record you wanted at an ISP... DNSSEC will hopefully help improve things. I'm not saying its an end to end solution like PKI but hey take what you can get.
I kind of get your point but your analogy of SSH is bogus. PKI solutions like SSH are designed so that any part of the chain except the endpoints can be compromised and it makes no difference. It only matters in the sense of DDoS & DoS attacks....

Your anger philosophically is appropriate but some make mention of iphone 4 like Apple would never do this. All OS writers can do this.
Everybody that has Windows 7, Windows Vista, or XP that's been updated in the last 2 years has windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. Guess what it does? It automatically removes malicious software. Should Google have done this without a good reason, probably not. But should they be able too if someone attacks there users or network... probably.
Its not in there best interest if they get sued or investigated by the DoJ under the ADA act.
Even if its groundless there's no way to spin that in the PR world.
Plus if they don't support accessibility there goes there government contracts. The feds can buy software taht isn't disability friendly. (Period)

As a Legally Blind It Pro I'm with you. And here's something a lot of people are missing on this discussion. Linux or what ever oracle is pushing selling is going no-where without accessibility. Because I'd imagine some of the first places to pick it up would be the government and the Feds can't touch it if it doesn't have accessibility features.
Of coarse TC got authentication what do you think a password is. Its static and loggable but it's got it. In order to make it two or three factor they'd have to make it work with a network card to implement a OTP solution or a Biometric reader. Neither of which I think you can accomplish with a program that fits into an MBR.
