A major security issue is the number of ways security is implemented. Open source ought to produce a reasonable implementation of security through the process of evolution, or trial and error; whatever you prefer.
I've just heard from a customer of ours that even at this late hour with the amount of press already given to this misuse of talent, some hapless user has opened the attachment and downed their server.
Knowing the company, and the size of their address book on the server, I can see this going on for a while yet.
Like it or lump it, this can't be a bad thing. IBM aren't known solely for their production of storage media, but as long as they keep stretching the limits of current technology then we will all benefit. What have the other storage media manufactures got to do now? Compete or fail.
As a small side issue, compare the image of IBM against Microsoft in say 1992.
Compare the images of the two today. Both large corporations, one has developed with the times, the other is Microsoft.
Don't see what all the fuss is about. I have had light switches in my house for as long as I can remember. My forefathers can remember a time before light switches though.

I don't believe that such acts are always intended to be some attempt to edcuate the technically unawares amongst us.

Anybody seen any problems outside of MS software?
