  1. A bookseller in Singapore on For Americans, Imported Textbooks Can Be Cheaper · · Score: 1

Here's the website to a bookseller in Singapore.
They concentrate their offerings to IT/Computer Science related books.

The prices listed on the website are in Singapore dollars, US$1 == S$1.75.

Try searching for your favourite(read expensive) IT/CS book and have a feel of the price disparity.

  2. Acer as well? on IBM To Demo Crusoe Thinkpad · · Score: 1

Hi. I checked out the Transmeta website a while ago. Among the webpages, it spoke of how they shifted strategies after market research showed a good demand for mobile chips. Interestingly a picture of a notebook computer was shown and it looked strikingly similar to my beloved Acer Travelmate 330/340 series. I guess Acer may jump aboard the Transmeta bandwagon soon as well. The URL of the picture is http://www.transmeta.com/mobile [JASON@CHAW]

  3. Akamai provides it better on Excite@Home To Change Routing Priorities For $$ · · Score: 1

What Excite is doing doesn't worry me a bit. It's a responsibility to provide good / reliable access to sites which pay more. Akamai does it even better. They provides a global array of mirrors and with sophisticated algorithms which does load-balancing well. Of course they concentrates on images, streaming media, etc. However most of our contents are images / streaming media anyway. Again I feel that it is right for Excite to do this and at the end of the day if anyone wants to host a website, they will look for different levels of reliability, speed, costs, etc. [JASON@CHAW]
