    . . . that Microsoft does get what they're asking for. What will happent ot open source software as it exists today? If US universities can't/don't produce GPL'd source do we suffer any? Some of the best hackers I know of exist OUTSIDE the US. And there's no way in hell the government is going to tell me that I can't write open source in my own home. Open source will continue regardless of whatever rhetoric they throw at legal authorities.

    I think what he's failing to understand is that with every announcement Microsoft makes about Linux, he draws more attention to Linux.

    I once said to "the board" of a private school that I once attended (and, incidentally, was expelled from): "The human race is evolving. It is the responsibility of my generation to glean through your out-dated and decaying beliefs and carry wisdom into the years to come."

    The comment on how old people still think they have something to teach us just triggered that memory. . . .

    And about the gaming thing. . . . Everyone knew that gaming would PREVAIL!. . .because of it's coolness 'n' such.

    Don't MS employees sign an agreement that says while they are employed by MS, they will never even look at GPL'd code so that NOBODY can accuse them of doing such a thing (therefore, requiring them to release their code). . . . .?

    Assuming that the internet content is part of what makes kids go and blow up schools and commit sex crimes 'n' such (which it isn't) and, assuming that having parents able to monitor the usage of the internet (which is pointless) one thing that still fails in this is that if the parent doesn't care what the child is looking at (on the internet or otherwise) would it truly matter if the government spent its money on the ability to view that? Those're my taxes there too, y'know!

    This "solution" still doesn't account for parental neglegence. We cannot rely on the government to give raise our children.

    I've noticed that my violent video games are actually a good diversion for my violent impulses. When I was in elementry school, I got into countless fights. Now that I have Unreal Tourney, I don't even think about hurting people IRL. I think we shouls make violent video games a public school requirement. :)

    I don't think that these people realize that Napster isn't the one making this "intellectual property" available. It's the users of napster who are doing this.

    Don't just shut down Napster. While you're at it. Shut down the internet. Destroy all CD burners and dubbing equipment and anything that can convey 1's and 0's! Bring down all computers! That way, nobody's copyrights are violated, right?
