. . . that Microsoft does get what they're asking for. What will happent ot open source software as it exists today? If US universities can't/don't produce GPL'd source do we suffer any? Some of the best hackers I know of exist OUTSIDE the US. And there's no way in hell the government is going to tell me that I can't write open source in my own home. Open source will continue regardless of whatever rhetoric they throw at legal authorities.
. . . nobody get get it! Y'know why? Because I got sick of my fscking 56k connection and used it for target practice and I don't get any DSL/Cable service where I live.
Whether it comes from a corporation, a non-profit organization, volunteers or monkeys on the internet, if it increases our productivity/effeciency or even happiness, it's innovation.
Didn't Jesus say, and I'm paraphrasing because I don't have my New Testament handy: "He who looketh upon a woman to lust after her has already committed adultery in his heart"?
. . . is create a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's been a Microsoft habbit for quite a while. If you convince the people of something, they'll accept it as true.
I think what he's failing to understand is that with every announcement Microsoft makes about Linux, he draws more attention to Linux.
Call me messed up, but Sophitia strikes me as significantly more attractive than human women. . . . and until the "source" for Sophitia is opened, life won't be good enough.
. . . As they're failing to realize that their focus creates reality. As was truly stated in The Matrix, ". ..real is just a series of electrical impulses in your brain. .." . ..therefore, if you focus on the thought that games make people do bad things, then that's real--for you.
Reality, like beauty, lies in the eye of the beholder.
. . . the differences between my generation and otherwise.
I once said to "the board" of a private school that I once attended (and, incidentally, was expelled from): "The human race is evolving. The entire world is going to change--everything we know to be true today, may be torn down. Yes, there are some beauties that we can and should carry over time. It is the responsibility of my generation to glean through your out-dated and decaying beliefs and carry wisdom into the years to come."
The comment on how old people still think they have something to teach us just triggered that memory. . . .
And about the gaming thing. . . . Everyone knew that gaming would PREVAIL!. ..because of it's coolness 'n' such.
Don't MS employees sign an agreement that says while they are employed by MS, they will never even look at GPL'd code so that NOBODY can accuse them of doing such a thing (therefore, requiring them to release their code). . . ..?
Assuming that the internet content is part of what makes kids go and blow up schools and commit sex crimes 'n' such (which it isn't) and, assuming that having parents able to monitor the usage of the internet (which is pointless) one thing that still fails in this is that if the parent doesn't care what the child is looking at (on the internet or otherwise) would it truly matter if the government spent its money on the ability to view that? Those're my taxes there too, y'know!
This "solution" still doesn't account for parental neglegence. We cannot rely on the government to give raise our children.
I've noticed that my violent video games are actually a good diversion for my violent impulses. When I was in elementry school, I got into countless fights. Now that I have Unreal Tourney, I don't even think about hurting people IRL. I think we shouls make violent video games a public school requirement.:)
That's the whole story of that good ol'e Real Time Strategy by Epic Megagames. Earth is dying, people leave---some are left behind. The people come back and they decide to have fights.
Go ahead! LEAVE EARTH! But be warned: When you come back, we're gonna sick our raptors on you! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!
Don't moderate me down just because I wasn't among the "CHOSEN" to leave Earth.
. . . that Microsoft has the patent on a whole ton of silly things like the "X" that closes the Window, the little Start Menu thingie and probably your mother's DNA pattern too.
All y'gotta do is flood the patent office with a bajillion requests and they'll give you any patent you want.:)
In which case, I say we make the Windows clone run WindowMaker! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
People do this with movies and even some music. Since games are becoming a popular entertainment medium, It's only natural the beurocracy step in and rustle things up.
I was wondering when they were going to get around to that. When I went to Comdex last year, they said that Star Office was planned for open sourcing some time. . . but it took 'em a while to do it.
Now I can fix some problems in Star Office! HOORAY!
I don't think that these people realize that Napster isn't the one making this "intellectual property" available. It's the users of napster who are doing this.
Don't just shut down Napster. While you're at it. Shut down the internet. Destroy all CD burners and dubbing equipment and anything that can convey 1's and 0's! Bring down all computers! That way, nobody's copyrights are violated, right?

Working for Microsoft would be a good excuse for smoking the drapes, drinking rubbing alchohol and shootin' up laundry detergent all at the same time.
Not that I've done any of that.. . . .
That might sell for the Christians. . . .
. . . .we killed the person who propigated it. . .
I think what he's failing to understand is that with every announcement Microsoft makes about Linux, he draws more attention to Linux.
I always thought kids were wanting to get out of school.
None of this would be an issue if everyone just made GNU software.
Call me messed up, but Sophitia strikes me as significantly more attractive than human women. . . . and until the "source" for Sophitia is opened, life won't be good enough.
AirSwitch is better. . . . . if they actually provided service to anyone besides no-name towns like Springville.

Humans are born naked, why can't computers be born naked, eh?
Go ahead! LEAVE EARTH! But be warned: When you come back, we're gonna sick our raptors on you! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

All I care about is Konqueror---get rid of this infernal Netscape garbage.
All y'gotta do is flood the patent office with a bajillion requests and they'll give you any patent you want. :)
