Rob,
You've never met me, and probably never will. I'm quite grateful for this source of information which is the proximate cause of at least $40,000 going straight into my pockets.
Yes, stay right there in your hobbit-hole with your books and don't even think about going on any adventures in the scary wild world! It's not safe!
Damn it! I was drinking orange juice! My sinuses are on fire, and my monitor has a splotchy orange hue. I'd post more, but I've got a mess to clean up.
How in hell can posting a list of spammers be illegal when posting a list of abortion doctors you want murdered be protected speech? Families of future victims are listed by name too. And addresses.
The crossed off names are people who have been murdered since the list went up. Greyed out means they were only wounded.

For fun, read the letter he posted to brag about suckering a young girl out of her babysitting money, and getting her to work her family and friends for him.
THIS is social engineering.
You don't use fuel cells in jets. You pump the H2 directly in, its just a fuel that burns and creates thrust. It even works better than JP-4 (jet fuel) because it gassifies at STP. No sprayers or injectors required.
More importantly, what are the sources that will give a net energy gain in the process from start to finish?
Back to thermodynamics class for you! No process is going to have a net energy gain from start to finish. All you can hope to do is tap into an energy source that's going to waste, like falling water, radioactive decay, or sunlight.
Remember the 3 laws of thermogoddamics:
1. There's no such thing as a free lunch.
2. You can't break even.
3. You can't even come close.
On the wasted energy thing, though... Perhaps if we took a gym full of stationary bicycles + generators, and an equivelant number of five-year-olds... and told them not to touch the bikes on pain of death... drop the cables into a swimming pool...
For the distributed power folks, this is the big complement to solar. H2 by hydrolysis is efficient and this finally gives you a decent way to store solar electricity.
Screw Natural Gas. It isn't free, it isn't pure hydrogen (CH4), and contains impurities that'll clog your membranes -- Hydrogen sulfide is added for the rotten egg smell.
...a prerequisite for an explosion is some sort of containment. Give the very large volume of the hindenberg I would think that the canvas construction would be insufficient...
ever heard of a fuel-air bomb?
This is on-topic, because we're discussing the dangers of H2 storage. If a bus were to wreck badly in a tunnel and rupture the tanks, a fuel-air bomb could result (not a billowing cloud of flame, but a very big bang).
I am greatly in favor of H2 as a fuel, and for that reason, I feel it important to point out the risks.
H2, especially in liquid form, is an incredibly efficient fuel, especially for jet aircraft. It has an extremely low density, hence the overhead storage you always see. The only problem with overhead storage of LH2 (liquid h2) is that it's still heavier than air. It's also very cold when released to the atmospheric pressure (like freon), so it could spill downward in a wreck, cause terrible frostbite and then burn.
Rumor has it that the index of refraction of LH2 is also very close to air, meaning that puddles of LH2 are not visible.
The flames of LH2 aren't visible either, so you could step into a burning puddle and not realize it until you smelled your body roasting. (got this from a fireman who said standard procedure is to wave a straw broom ahead and watch for it to flame.)
So LH2 should be an excellent fuel, but I'm sure some idiots will kill themselves with it, and the lawsuits will kill it.
Sounds like the balloon was actually filled with an Oxy/hydrogen mixture.
I was present at an H2 balloon burning demonstration at Idaho State University a short time ago. The one filled with pure H2 went whoosh!, and a pretty mushroom cloud went up to the ceiling.
The prof then announced the next one was filled with a proper mixture of H2 and 02. I covered my ears, and felt the overpressure 35 feet away. My ears rang, even though my fingers were in them.
I think that's what you experienced.
Had the LZ-129 been filled with an oxy-hydrogen mixture, there would have been no flames, just a big hole in the lakehurst field.

I know you are just trolling, but I hope some good points can be made from your pissing into the barrel called slashdot.
Slashdot itself is a product of open source philosophy, and I'm not referring to the slashcode. 'Slashdot' is an intellectual community with no entrance requirements. The assumption is that let everybody talk, and the good stuff will show up. By and large, it has worked. You argue that Linux is not good stuff. I, and several others, would argue otherwise. Linux has helped me, and has not harmed you; therefore it is good.
If Linux were beer, it would be shipped in sealed containers with the recipe printed on the side.
You can take what you want, and you can offer your own containers, but you, personally, are unable to piss into my systems, because I don't have to accept your "Yellow Pants" distribution.
Why do I answer your obvious troll? In addition to answering your rant, this is an excellent place to add an idea for the improvement of slashdot.
Require an account to post. Those in fear can use a throwaway account. Then create a way that I can add or subtract karma from accounts that only affects my viewing. In other words, slashcode on my box reviews the page sent, and adds or subtracts karma for my viewing only.

The biological analogy not holding is the entire point of the article! Gabriel is trying to get us to look at a different model where the biological analogies apply.
"Command and control systems are required for synchronized execution of a coherent plan."
Precisely why we need to explore alternatives to the 'coherent plan' model. We need to figure out ways for cooperation rather than command.
Before you argue that we do everything in a command mode, remember that your commanding brain is a committe of several billion neurons working cooperatively.
As to the article, it looks like a quick implementation of the idea would be web sites interacting with others without human intervention. I think this is already happening, such as the search bots from google and friends.
upgrade to the latest bios

Dell's file and driver support is the best I've ever seen. They not only have the newest drivers, but the older versions as well. Pick whatever works best.
At the other end of the support spectrum is Sony. Ever tried to download a windows driver for a Vaio laptop? I don't think they'll even sell you a driver CD.
If you have more problems, e-mail me, and I'll try to help.
If the internal fields remain 'for 15 years' then the power consumption of the chip should hopefully be lower, since the cache shouldn't need power refresh.
This might also increase clock speed from heat issues, as well as no need for dead refresh cycles in the cache.
I wonder how much the new stuff costs. Hopefully its dirt (sand) cheap.
Since you ask me directly, no. I don't watch pokemon, anime or not.
I enjoy anime because I'm tired of the predictible plots. In the really good anime, the characters are far richer than in the west. Most of them have personal demons, and act from them. I don't recall seeing many pure good vs pure evil anime.
Even akira is about a little boy tetsuo who is picked on and never quite good enough. He becomes the most powerful creature in the universe, and it eventually destroys him. When I watched it, I could easily see myself acting exactly the same way for many of the things he does.
In ninja scroll, the hero got a spike through his eye because he trusted his father. His father was trying to teach him to trust nobody, including his own father. It wasn't an accident either. You'll never see that on friends, or in even an 'Ahnolld' movie.
Not to mention, the hero often bites it. Sometimes halfway through. Another thing that's extremely rare in the west. It's the unpredictability that I really enjoy.
Usually the evil are multi-dimensional characters, too. They have reasons to be pissed off. Often, as in 'Ghost in the Shell' you don't even have truly evil characters.
Good luck if you want to really watch some good stuff. I recommend 'Ghost in the Shell' and 'Akira' highly, as well as Ninja Scroll.
If you're really hosed, use a disk imaging system like norton ghost to backup, then restore, your hard disk.
The files will all be defragged, because norton reads one file at a time into the image, then writes back the restore one file at a time.
Presto, instant, fast defrag.

How about a "mature content ONLY search"?
If it costs so much for a shuttle shot, and it's so cheap for a soviet launch...
Mabye we should hire the soviets.
It's really a pity that they couldn't find anybody willing to PAY for a trip to the ISS. It would solve so many financial problems.

Quiet?
Fuel cells are silent as the grave. The noise of the bus is from motors, tires, power steering, cooling blowers and gearing.
Electricity generation from fuel cells is inaudible.
For the distributed power folks, this is the big complement to solar. H2 by hydrolysis is efficient and this finally gives you a decent way to store solar electricity.

Also, I've noticed in the last 2 years that anime has gone from nowhere to having a full shelf at the local media play.
