Actually it's been reduced to just a $50 fine, you can just mail it in.

Don't forget that Nullsoft created GNUtella after they were owned by AOL/TW. It might have just been slipped in there without bringing up any of the possible issues to the guys at the top.

  3. Re:Oh PLEASE!!! on EchoStar Asks Supreme Court to Let Unlock Local Channels · · Score: 2, Informative

If you really want distant locals you can do one of the following.

    1. If you have a Camper/Trailer send a copy of the current registration to Echostar along with a form you can find on dishnetwork.com, and you can qualify for the TruckDrivers/RV waiver and choose up to 2 distant networks.
    2. "Move" You tell Dish that you are moving your service address (the bill will still ben sent to your "billing" address). You can either move outside a contour B into a "white area" or into a Market area where locals are provided.

Keep in mind with the second solution choose from NY, LA, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Atlanta. Other cities will be changing over to spot beams and thus will be unavailable outside of about 200 Miles from their home city. The spot beams will be activating sometime soon (whenever they get their newest satellite, Echostar VII operational)

I'd settle for a new toilet that worked. After trying to use a top of the line new Toto, i'm convinced that low flow is latin for 'won't flush' I guess my only option is to resort to toilet smuggling

Great system, and cost me less than $500 in the HTB503 set with a full set of speakers, sub, it's got DTS, Dolby5.1, optical and coax inputs, and a bunch of svideo passthrus. As a bunch of other people noted I suggest paying a visit to www.audioreview.com, check out their suggestion page http://www.audioreview.com/promo/receiver/top5.sht ml

    >I remember many many scenes, but I have no idea which movie they go to. maybee you should 'watch' the movies again before spouting off. I like remember this movie Citizen Cone or something, It had a guy and a sled in it, don't remember the details but It sucked, I didn't understand it.

  7. Tracking of Cases on Web-Based Helpdesks? · · Score: 1

I (along with a group) actually wrote a very involved helpdesk for a nationwide company as a part of a college project, we used logins, so you could log in and post problems from anybody's computer. The helpdesk was nice, but the more important part was keeping statistics of what the IT department was doing all day, that way when their boss asked why he was paying them they had pages of reports on everything they'd done. Combined with the fact that this company was based overseas was a great solution for them, because the highups who weren't stateside could check out how the computers were working.

  9. Re:what about tunneling? on German Censorware Targets Music · · Score: 1

I think they're trying to stop the idiots who can only just manage to install napster. There is really nothing they can do to stop somebody who know's what they're doing, but if you cut it down to the % that 1. Want free music and 2. Have the technical prowess to get it, then it will be effective. If you can't stop everybody stop all but 2%.

  10. Re:distributed file sharing on Open Source Napster: Gnutella · · Score: 2

Hard to believe that a large company (Time Warner) would allow this type of software out in the open. I figured that there would be a napster clone for other file types, but was sure it would be another upstart. I'd guess this will be squashed by Time Warner before it becomes too popular, or if not squashed modified to try to prevent the free flow of information

  11. Re:Higher rates for you and me? on FCC Wants to Open Bandwidth Market · · Score: 1

So if your cel phone company determines that it could have the same quality of service if they had half the bandwidth from 7pm to 7am, they then sell off half their frequencies at those time, thereby making money from whoever bought this bandwidth, making it unnecessary to raise rates to increase profits? how does this lead to higher prices for the consumer?

  12. Re:divided they fall, on Mindspring-Earthlink Seek Annulment of Marriage · · Score: 2

dialup may be dead to nerds, but i've worked with a lot of people who can't understand why you should pay anything more than ~$20 a month for internet, besides that until there is only 1 standard for DSL/Cable people will still go for the simplicity of dialup.
