It also breaks ColdFusion 5.0 for Linux which won't load. Macromedia doesn't plan to rewrite its module for 5 to run on Apache 2 and instead suggests upgrading to ColdFusion MX at a cost of $549. Incidentally, I notice from their pricing grid CF MX for Linux is not listed as supporting PostgreSQL.
There are really two issues here: whether you can hide your past, and whether someone else can steal your identity. They're linked because if you succeed at the former it's easier for someone else to succeed at the latter.
People who think they can wipe out, bury, hide, avoid, paint over, duck and generally deny their own past are living in a dream world. They are now who they were then and nothing can get around this fact. If they try to bury their past, it will rise up and bit them some day when they don't expect it. A better approach would be to write an honest biography and post it on the Net. It's pretty hard to blackmail someone who's admitted his or her failings.
The second issue is more serious, because personal identities are easier to steal if there's more of them in the open. My suggestion here is that we should all get our DNA mapped and have this deposited with an attorney along with copies of our social security number, picture, driver's license and other personal data, including the bio mentioned above. This file could be updated anually with our credit record and income tax filing.
With these two steps taken, anyone should be in a good position to counter credit history mistakes and block identity theft.
Restrictions on violent video games sure have my support. For too long we've seen young people exposed to violence in "games" as if killing was fun. We've all seen where that led to.
I've had it for a week now and it's proven stable for me. Quattro Pro imported Excel fine and there's no speed performance issue I can see. Not many people seem to realize you can open up RPM's with the new Corel Update that comes with the Corel Linux OS that comes with the Office Suite. The only problem for some newbies will be that you have to go find Communicator on the CD Rom after you install the suite, and it's not called Communicator. It installs fine though.:)
Until Corel demonstrated its Word Perfect Office suite for Linux, I think everyone was saying "yes, but" it's not comparable to MS Office 2000. After the demo's in the past two monhts, the insiders have all known this one's a runner. Now, for the first time, there's an easy-to-install office suite that can run head to head with MS on features and clobber MS on price. This view still hasn't captured the popular computer press, and certainly hasn't touched the investment press, but from the G&M article, I think it's got the attention of the major chipmakers and pc manufacturers. Intel's participation will open a lot of eyes, and so will the downstream announcements of pre-loaded Linux computers.

I'm getting 9 seconds to load the splash screen of Word Perfect, and a further 10 seconds to get the application running. This is with a Celeron 333.

Maybe WINE doesn't work on your system, but it's rock solid on my version of Corel Linux. Quatropro, Paradox etc. all run great.
In the meantime, Corel shares are a bargain.
