  1. I recommend using https://www.libreoffice.org/ in MS-Windows, having MS-Office used only as fallback: this way you can gradually identify and fix the problematic documents (please, try to use ODF whenever possible =])

    enterprise environments doesn't allow it, easily and painless (moving from MS-Windows in big companies can take years, and only works if it was very well sponsored and planed [if not, a "natural" contra-movement awakes...] - even on universities it's not easy, besides the general cultural-change acceptant environment...)

    Mom an Pop users (or, depending of their age, "Grandma and Grandpa") tend to be this kind of users: Facebook, to some of then, are "THE INTERNET" - and it's not few users: they can easily mas influence election results...

    I'm Brazillian: aside the subject of answering job e-mails on off-work hours (which I think it's needed in some situations...), the lack of regulation in work relation in U.S. and the reaction of U.S. citizens against it, amazes me!

    They have limits on the number of hours you can work.

    I receive various kinds of this in mail (DBA here) - there's some cases where this "rule" is complete wrong (like mine): by receiving notifications and acting accordingly after work, in general during few minutes, save me several work-hours and headaches during the day...

    I think you misunderstood the point: internet is the communication used nowadays (ie, in most cities, you can't call to report a non working public light, but you fill a form in a website to make that report and ask public action...) - in that way, internet access infrastructure is a public need, like telephone lines in the past. And, because it's a way to get other rights (like in the example on last paragraph), IMHO, I would think in it BEFORE the other essential services

    internet access provides various rights (like the most basic free speech) and public services (opt-in in various e-gov programs, for example) : therefore, it's a need nowadays

    Why are they forced to subsidise Internet-access in low population density areas?

    People need internet access (it's an essential service now, like water or electricity) no matter the population density where they live
