It seems the 15 inchers are the only ones effected.

No, my 12" AlBook (purchased in March this year) has a bright spot on it too. I was wondering what it might be, and now that I have seen this I am going to do something about it. It sounds very similar to what my screen has :(.

Guns dont keep a record of everything done with them though. Serial numbers are more like license plates.

When you get shot by a gun you dont see its serial number, just like if you got hit by a car you will not have seen its VIN or engine number. as these are much more like a serial number.

A numberplate/licence plate is much more comparable to the marks left on the projectile as it travels through the barrel.

I call bullshit! I own a 12" PowerBook with Superdrive, when I purchased it, the Apple web site mentioning the specs of the machine were unclear, so I asked Nextbyte (a shitty Australian chain run by wankers, who employ tossers) they said, "yup". When it arrived, I was pissed off, but not enough to send the machine back. Now with this unsupported firmware my machine does everything that I purchased it to.

This is a test from the labels on how safe their music is in the iTunes store. They will know that the only way this music will make it to the various P2P apps will be from some Apple user who buys the album, burns a CD, then rips it to MP3 to distribute.

I think you forget Europe, Australasia etal, where there is no iTunes store available, the media moguls would have only given iTunes the rights to US distribution, besides, most of the sound track will probably be available today for download of the p2p networks as well as purchase from Music stores. (you would probably have to buy several albums to get it all though).

And how is that better than spending the same ~$200 for a normal PC that absoultely SMOKES the XBox?

Presently the XBox in .AU is a hell of a lot cheaper than a base computer, admittedly you get twice the power for approx twice the price, but when most of what people want to do can be done on 300Mhz machines (which they dont want to upgrade when the OS corrupts itself or some piece of h/w dies).

Its worth noting that the PPC970 is not a Power4, yes it is based from the Power4 design, and it has oh, an AltiVec core tacked into it. (VMX is what IBM is calling it). Red Carpet provides a nice GUI that will enable you to install packages (and resolve the dependancies automagically). If I recall correctly as well as the Ximian packages, it was able to update/pull needed packages from your OS too. Its main differences between an apt source is that it has a nice GUI which displays a name and version number along with a tickbox [maybe a description]. Perhaps there is a nice X apt program that will allow you to browse a repository just looking, I dont know of one, i only know of the command line tools, and personally I find red-carpet brilliant when you want to install something on a local box. [note: i use apt on boxes at work and love that too, red carpet is not for everything, but for a Ximian desktop, it truly does rock!]
