    No, actually your MAC-address can be used on the LAN the assign your system an IPv6-address automatically. In IPv6 the last 64-bit are for the LAN(s)/subnet(s) and the first part should go in the global routing table.

    They were handed out like candy in the old days of the internet and the HP/Compaq (DEC was the part that had the the IP-block) merger/buyout/whatever gave them 2 large blocks. If I'm not mistaken.

    Well, personally I don't use those silly Office applications. And when I do I use Abiword and Gnumeric, because the rest is just bloated. Most people seem to use Office for all kinds of things that they were never intended to be used for or for which better applications exist. Like a DTP-program instead of Word. Something about a hammer seems to apply here.

    That's really obvious, I'm sure glad Microsoft wanted to make the less-used options more visible, but at the same time they made the most-used options less visible. Atleast IMHO.

    Hotmail does silly browser checks on the User-agent-string. A Mozilla Firefox Beta would also not work, if I understand it correctly.

    So that's hardly a Chrome-issue, Microsoft/Hotmail is being an ass(hole). This is no surprise for readers of this forum I'm sure.

    Or they are on purpuse doing it for the simple reason to make it harder for spammers to abuse their systems, well that's just my theory.

    I don't think they are interrested in the content, mostly they are interrested in using it as a jump point to get more access to the hosting-providers-network or to host their sites for free or send spam-/virus-/scam-mail and install an other bot to find other victims.

    They may get the source, but do they compile it with the same compiler that Microsoft does (I'm guessing also from Microsoft) ? On a windows-machine ? I doubt that really helps to guarantee anything. Just search for "reflections on trusting trust" if you don't know what I'm referring to.

    Then why is StarOffice always behind on OpenOffice and it's new features ?

    (that's just what I heared, I've never tried StarOffice, wouldn't even know where to look for it, etc.)

    I would probably much rather buy: Enterprise Support from Sun for OpenOffice. It makes more sence to me.

    It's definitly possible to use anycast & TCP, just is all TCP-connections break when routing changes.

    As a fellow dutchy it ticks me off that my government is doing this. But I do see degration in most governments around the world, so you folks are not better off. Thus I've not found any other place I wanted to move to. Also I wanted to say, they may take away the magic mushrooms, but they are also talking about the local government growing there own marijuana. So we lose one, gain something else.

    Microsoft isn't king on the web(servers). Netcrat confirms it. :-) And the web is where a lot (new ?) interresting things are happening.
