This is the third time in this discussion I've seen references to Australia's ways.

(FWIW IMHO every personal site in oz should get something.state.au like lazybeam.qld.au for small $, or yourname.yourcity.state.au for free, much like the .us. How hard is that?)

Anyway I saw a list of number of registrations in each tld, and IIRC .au was in the top ten. Just goes to show.

(But how did McDonalds get rockybeach.com.au?)

FWIW, the cost of GrowZone is ~$2.85/hr, including GST (grr) [$AU1 = ~60cUS]. Or other options. So that is a little high, but considering it would otherwise be STD or a 1900 number (Big Pond has (had?) this plus a separate charge!) Laying all that cable is expensive, plus the charges they pay their ISP (Telstra).

Thanks, but it makes little difference. The reason I did it was because I noticed the modem light flashing when it shouldn't.

Doesn't nylon and rayon come from hydrocarbons? Which come out of the ground, and the act of mining will upset the habitat of some animals... I don't know what those other things are, but it looks like taking them could hurt the food supply of something. Everything is a case of "robbing Peter to pay Paul".

    Later on:

Luckily, many sweeteners are made without killing bees: Rice syrup, molasses, ...
Molasses is a by-product of sugar. Sugar comes from sugar-cane. Sugar-cane farmers often set their cane on fire, to get rid of all the unwanted rodents etc living in the field. (Only the leaves burn; the "good stuff" is untouched) So even this is not animal-friendly.

In Australia (and probably most other ccTLDs) one can only have one name for the company, plus it has to have something to do with the company. Plus it has to be a company. No lazybeam.net.au for me.. Plus it has to be [com|net|org|asn].au

And .oz would be cool :-) Even .oz.au wouldn't suck too much.
