The domain was Australia's first domain and originally devised to register names of those entities operating within the ACSnet network, and continues to be used to register those entities who are visible within the ACSnet network domain. Registration of a name within this domain is only undertaken once the name is visible on the ACSnet network.
This domain is gradually shrinking as less sites are connected to ACSnet.
They downloaded at 8-10 kBps (yes, that's kilobytes) on my 33.6kbps modem. No other document downloads that fast!
Wait a second, doesn't that mean it compresses well? Microsoft thinking of the consumer, making their documents able to be compressed so well!.DOC must be so efficient.
(I was being sarcastic if you didn't realise)
Almost forgot, IE taking up a 45MB "Temporary Internet Files" but still having to re-download the document read mere seconds ago, in the [<-] back button.
hehe and flicking through the doc file, there's lots of spelling and grammar mistakes. lots of different coloured squiggly lines.
I have an IBM Aptiva mATX case and successfully put a Gigabyte 7ZM motherboard and Duron CPU in it. This case is smaller than many other cases. I will be getting a larger case very soon since I've maxed out drive bays, and also the PSU looks like it won't supply enough power to everything when I get another harddrive...
Maybe that small AT case has slimline things?
ie not a "standard" case?
How much power does the average puter use? We had 10 players and two servers in my double garage shed, all on a single 10A (240V since I'm Australian) 50 metre extension cable. At least I had the sense to avoid chaining!
Keep exercise bikes away from your extension cords!!! One unfortunate fellow was jumping on the bike and it landed on a cord and fried his computer! In a shower of sparks and smoke!

A meter is a device that measures things, not a unit of measure!
One should measure things in metres. That makes much more sense.
Besides, a metre is based on a measurement of Earth (although miscalculated) so would not have the same length. Imperial units are also derived from "sensible" origins, but they do not go as easily between units (eg how many square feet in an acre; how many square metres in a hectare)

A few weeks ago I couldn't help myself in playing tetris. It wasn't even a very good implementation (TetrisLite for Win32). Everytime I closed my eyes I saw bits of the game, and I would then play in my head, trying to think of good pieces and moves, etc. I also had the little features TetrisLite had, like similar blocks melding together etc.
I got into Tetris I even wrote my own tetris clone. In Perl using CGI!:-) If you want the URL you'll have to reply or something...
It turned out to be the video card. I tried replacing the video card (to a different AGP one) and now it boots up as fast as any other Windows machine.
The method of going to a website, being controlled by the nearest Patent Registry, and entering details into a custom-made text-entering facility, to register multiple patents whilst clicking the mouse only once.
Of course the text-entering facilty, the mouse, the website and the Patent Registry are already previously registered. --
I have a Duron 650 with GA-7ZM motherboard, and Windows takes ages to boot - probably a whole minute (not actually timed). Most of this time its doing nothing. Just sitting with the Windows startup screen, then the black textmode screen, then finally the usual desktop.
This is newly reinstalled W98SE (like, last week), and has done it ever since then. (Upgraded from K62 with a similar problem, but no where near as long)
I do notice network useage during the black screen. (flashing lights on the hub) It should have a static IP!
With the K62 it wouldn't start at all if not plugged into a hub. Not yet tested with the Duron.
Anybody know anything about any of this, and to help??

I still want lazybeam.id.au!

One cannot get something.id.au (Which would be best, IMHO) It has to be something.animal.id.au where animal is a native Australian flora or fauna.
I have seen one @echidna.id.au email address and one something.dropbear.id.au domain.

Exactly my point. But it's also funny the day after I got it out on video
What's it doing O/S?
--
PS Why is it being reviewed now, since I just got it out on video?

Given that smart phones don't exactly have a lot of memory, it would seem like it's a no-brainer to slap a little game of Pong or Combat on.
Not the correct use of words there. That's like saying it's a no-brainer to slap a copy of windows 2000 into a computer with a lot of memory.
I wannna play games on my mobile phone! (I don't even have snake etc...) :-(

Like this one?

Sorry WK, I've not been active on the List for ages...
And sorry for the late reply; I should check /. every hour instead of every day. Since I work from 7pm to 3am most days? (It's ~5:10am ATM ICYWW)

Did this cause the fact a server located 100km from me wouldn't DNS resolve?

traceroute: unknown host www.gamedude.com.au
It's working now, though.

What happened to the LinuxToday article? It just says "This Story has been unposted". Anyone get a copy before this happened?

Thanks for the 3 replies...
FWIW The Duron didn't care it was unplugged while booting.
I tried all the suggestions (most were already done...) Still no better.
Oh, and the NIC drivers were off the disk that came with it - and it is a PCI 10/100 of reputable brand.
About WINS, there was no difference whether it was enabled or not.
I even tried putting the AGP down to 2x.
Danged windows.

solarhost.com is running Microsoft-IIS4.0 on NT4 or Windows 98
It would be much cooler to be running on Sun Servers instead though... ("We run Sun off the sun!") Thats why I just had to check.

The same Dot Matrix things were posted a while ago, was it not? Plus the site is slow-as.
