I would for sure challenge that. The study talked about people's driving habits, and that an EV would work for them, TFS at least said nothing about people's living situations being able to support 90% of cars being replaced with EVs. Did the study actually look into the percent of people living in apartments, townhomes, condos, or other places where they have no garage or personal parking spot to plug in at? I highly doubt that the US has 90% single family home ownership...that would be flat out stunning considering the number of non single family homes around here.
Um, the poster you were responding to was being willfully obtuse above.
whoever57 was talking about how nice he has it that he can plug in his cars in his garage...in response to someone talking about "what about people who live in apartments?". He was offtopic on the thread. He could have started his own thread, and posted about how easy he had it, but his post was entirely off topic to the thread he responded to. None of the solutions I have seen would be able to cover my situation, and talking about how easy it is to plug his cars in doesn't solve the issues I and about 50% of the US population have. We don't all have our own private garage, and his statement was entirely "I've got mine, I don't see the problem" instead of offering a solution that would work.
How do I get an electric car when at home I don't own the property between my house and the parking spot (to install a charger in), and at work, there are two chargers for thousands of cars?
Several charging stations doesn't solve the issue. If everyone started driving electrics, and even half of them needed to charge all day, there would be many stranded employees.
Did you miss that this thread was talking about situations where people don't have their own parking spot? What good is charging your EV compared to those who live in apartments or people like me that live in Townhomes and don't own the access to our parking spot? I don't own my front yard, so I can't even have an electrical hookup installed, so how would I charge an EV? Also, if EVs became common, I guess work is going to just foot the bill for adding thousands of charging stations to their parking lot? How do you do that in a parking garage?
Your experience does nothing to negate what you were responding to.
God, grow up little one, you haven't exposed a damn thing, and your constant attacks just prove you don't even have the capacity to. Just like this post, you can't even comprehend what I write, so you flip out and claim you have won yet again...despite not winning anything!
I hide behind a fake name, but at least I stand behind my name, you post as AC and act like third parties. You have no accountability to what you post, and you use other's posting history as some kind of attack against them, with the full knowledge that you are hiding from equivalent criticism. Until you create an account and use it, you have no position to criticise my use of a pseudonym; you just hide behind AC posts, which is far worse in the grand scheme.
Also, you know that I have good karma because I have constructive things to add to the community, while if you created an account you would quite quickly EARN negative karma because you love to shitpost and troll, while most times posting off topic. You are your own problem, not me.
I am of the second camp I guess. The changes being predicted, at worst case, are so gradual that it can be dealt with in most cases. Why worry when people do much stupider things like rebuilding New Orleans...below sea level...
When the government instead suggests people who lose their houses move them, maybe I will start listening, but until then, what is the big freaking deal? We can't even convince people to move houses that are clearly in danger now, why would we expect people to move their houses for a future danger that is so slow, and small of an increase as to be less than the tide.
You poor dear, you had to go back a month ago to find somewhere that I lost my temper with your act and insulted you, you poor poor dear.
If you can't handle being insulted, perhaps you should stop participating in the open internet. I hear there are some great kiddie areas of the Internet where people can't insult you.
APK, you attack constantly, if you can't take it back, it just shows that you don't belong here. Who is it that constantly calls me a mental defective? Who constantly insults my experience (which you know nothing about)? Get over yourself, you have yet to prove me wrong, so instead you resort to name calling and insults, as if it will harm me in some way.
You couldn't destroy a piece of paper while standing in a forest fire...yet you constantly act like you have trapped me or proven me wrong, when you still have yet to respond to any of the points I made. Good luck with that.
Uh huh. So then why do you feel he has destroyed me? He has yet to actually make a point against anything.
Funny that you think it makes me mentally disturbed though, as it is exactly the same behavior that APK did in accusing me of posting as an AC acting like him. So, you believe APK is mentally disturbed?
The unobtainium was in both. The mountains floated because they contained room temperature superconductors. It is a property of superconductors that they produce a magnetic field, which would cause that effect. The reason they didn't mine the floating mountains was that there is a risk when removing lift from something that is floating. If they mined out the mountain, it would fall from the sky (probably over time), and likely damage the mining equipment.
To add to what the AC typed above, I would be surprised if the old Slashdot could crash a modern server, after all, we have had how many iterations of Moore's law?
Servers are faster, bandwidth is more available and cheaper, it is just plain hard now to actually send too much traffic to web servers. This is evidenced by how much bandwidth DDoS attacks need to produce to take sites down. What are they up to now? Multi Gb/s?
The thing is, moderation is not censorship. This is something the AC above gets very wrong, and you seem to be agreeing with. Downmodding a post does not make it disappear, so it is not being censored in any way, you can still see it by reading at -1, so it is not blocked or censored.
I am making a point, what you have said does not contradict my point. APK hasn't yet destroyed me, so I can only assume you are APK as well, since he is the only one who ever thinks he destroys me.
I am not in Baltimore. Perhaps you should reread the post you pulled that information from.
I will not out myself to a psychopath, I don't need to prove anything. You are the one asking for proof of every little thing, it won't happen, so get over it.
Except, I have never impersonated you. Why do you assume that people posting as AC acting like you MUST be me?
You pointed it out, however I have seen no others point out anything of the type. Funny that you would confuse a signed message of your own trying to claim I made a post as you, and one of your third party posts.
I don't need to prove a damn thing to you. I will not out myself to a psychopath.
Funny how you get all caught up in your own logical inconsistencies, and somehow think you have outsmarted me. Perhaps if you went back to school and learned some formal logic we might be able to have an actual discussion.
You seem to have selective hearing. I was using your argument against you. I don't expect you to post your medical degrees, as it isn't needed. Just as my qualifications to point out your idiotic missteps should not need to be proven, as your missteps are so obvious a five year old could see the issues.
Now that you repeat it, I remember. The notch in the 5 1/4" disks that made it read only, and using scotch tape to cover the notch would give you a working disk.
Wow, I should break out the Commodore 64 and play some Gauntlet!
That is a good one, can I steal it?
It actually made me laugh out loud over here when I read that.
I would for sure challenge that. You can't handle the truth!

Maybe some of the things, but this particular incident...nope.
There was a warrant involved, the owners of the phone were dead, so have no right to privacy, so there was no constitutional or privacy issue.
If they were afraid of the tool getting out, why not unlock the phone in their facility with a tool designed to unlock ONLY that phone?
This was Apple making a stand to raise their sales numbers, that is all it was.
Also, them taking this stand did not stop the tool from being created and used, and guess what? It didn't get abused and leaked to the internet!

More attacks, no responses to the actual criticism, and exactly the same style. Yup, another APK troll.
Uh huh. So then why do you feel he has destroyed me? He has yet to actually make a point against anything.

As far as I know, only one post has been removed from Slashdot.
https://slashdot.org/story/01/...
Slashdot does not censor, and this AC that brings this up often doesn't understand what the word means.
I'm with you there, I tend to upmod ACs who need it as much as possible, and even when I don't have mod points, I always surf at -1 and read them all.
To add to what the AC typed above, I would be surprised if the old Slashdot could crash a modern server, after all, we have had how many iterations of Moore's law?

This is censorship:
https://slashdot.org/story/01/...
which Slashdot fought against as much as they could.
Please, don't confuse moderation with censorship, they are entirely different things.
Frankly if you follow that logic, we should all move back to Africa, as that is where the whole race originated.
You are funny.
I am making a point, what you have said does not contradict my point. APK hasn't yet destroyed me, so I can only assume you are APK as well, since he is the only one who ever thinks he destroys me.
Unobtainium mountains floating in the sky would work too...
I don't think it is illegal, but it is grounds for a civil lawsuit that she is very likely to win...against both companies.
APK, I see you are having problems with basic logic. Perhaps you should go back to college and learn logic, as your argument methodology is pathetic.
I am not in Baltimore. Perhaps you should reread the post you pulled that information from.
