  1. Next Step on Google Fiber: Why Traditional ISPs Are Officially On Notice · · Score: 2

VDI. With all that bandwidth, the next step for Google would probably be to fully virtualize your computer. Routers could become thin / zero clients as well.

  2. Crashplan on Ask Slashdot: Network Backup Solution Out of the Box? · · Score: 1

Try http://www.crashplan.com/ You can either pay to backup to their servers, otherwise you can backup between different computers running the client. Supports Windows / Mac / Linux / Solaris. If you are paranoid, you can setup a Solaris box with ZFS and run it on that. Also look at http://www.nexenta.org/ for a nice Solaris platform to make a NAS. rad

  3. Its not about HD - its about cutting costs on Console Makers Scaling Back Their Push For HD · · Score: 1

This is certainly not related to cutting back on HD, but simply cutting back on cost. An HD cable in every console is equal to $$$ if you consider the volume of sales both MS and Sony have. They probably figured that an HD cable is not really a selling point for the console. If someone wants HD, they can just buy the cable separately.
