Really? Millions of billions of acres of desert and mountain ranges that can't be used for anything else. Just in the US alone. And you're worried about taking up "space"?

But what I wonder, is why isn't Moft going after the spyware and all that put stuff on your machine that, if you remove it, it makes your machine act funky? Isn't that damaging their product, IE?, or sometimes even Windblows itself is messed up.

    Assumed English translation:

My question is this: Why isn't Microsoft going after spyware, and especially those programs that, if deleted, remove functionality? Doesn't that damage their reputation?

Or maybe I missed the point completely. I'm not old enough to have a 10 year old son.

I fail to see the "scientific" evidence here... The editor is flapping his lips about some "scientists" (no references) who are saying the genes MUST have evolved (not even a theory here, folks) and jumping to a rather rash conclusion (we MUST have evolved since, uh--well, we have genes! yeah, that's it!). I'm not a creationist, and I quite frankly don't give a damn where we came from. But truth is truth... and this is, well, crackpot speculation.

There is always more than one way of looking at things, think about it: A city slicker decides he's going to see the country, and heads out on a long dirt road. His car breaks down by a large barn. A farmer comes running out of the barn and asks him to come help. After several hours of labor and some urging by the two, a cow is born. The slicker turns to the farmer and says "How fast was that little cow goin', anyway?"

I hafta ask... why do alot of us vote someone who's sorta what we want over someone who stands for most of what we want, just b/c we know the latter doesn't have a chance? Yes, the vote is rigged, but it's only gonna get worse if we vote for half-baked candidates. We "appear" to be supporting these candidates in full force to the rest of the world. When they count your ballot, there is no checkbox for "kinda want him"... it's black or white. This is not an attack on anyone, I'm simply asking?

This is ridiculous. If you don't like the article, don't comment. Keep it to yourself unless YOU have a better point to argue. As it stands, your post has a much higher garbage to intellectual ratio than Katz article. Most of us come to read facts and opinions, not flames. Don't waste our time. Thank you.

  8. Who are the American people? on The Last Days Of Politics · · Score: 1

I think Katz has a good point here. Maybe a bit over-dramatized, but we cannot ignore the fact that digital culture is pretty much growing up seperate from "The Government" and politics, and that digital culture largely ignores "The Government" when applicable.

What angers me is that alot of people make arguments for The Government in a manner as if to imply we have no say-so until The Government feels moving its godhead would be profitable. And then it's usually a compromise that introduces new monsters. Who are the American citizens here? Don't we have the ability to say what is right and what is wrong? Or do we just "elect" these pawns to office and HOPE they see it our way? If the Senate passes a bill that goes against the American way, must follow it? If free speech were abolished, would we lay down and die? I hope not, but it is concievable with this attidue we so proudly display. Will America degrade to Anarchy without Big Brother looking over our shoulder? Are the American people incapable of governing themselves? (Will he ever stop using Capitalized Nouns?) Let me remind you, if we had been incapable 200 years ago, we would not be Americans now.

So what is our identity? Do we or the elite have the power to make decisions for our own lives? ...
