  1. My place doesnt exist either on Apple Campus Missing From MSN Earth · · Score: 1

I'm in NJ and our complex was built about 5 years ago - google shows everything fine, but MS shows an empty lot.

Yes and no...here's a horrible thought...what if SCO goes bankrupt and their unix IP gets bought out by Microsoft?

  3. NY jobs on The Laid-off Techie · · Score: 1

It was rough out there for a while, but I managed to land a brand new job this month coming from a .com - belive me, I was worried that noone would want a .com sysadmin. But I believe that there are always jobs for competant people, most of the people who are unemployed now shouldn't have had jobs in the first place. Most of the tech companies hired WAY too many people, and then let them go. Imagine if they never hired those people to begin with, then they would still be slinging lattes at Starbucks. I'm assuming that with these positions came some pretty nice salaries, did they bank any of it? You shouldn't have to win money on a game show to be able to survive after losing your 150k/year job. Maybe if they just swallowed their pride and took a real job instead of sitting on their ass for a whole year looking for a job, they'd still have a few bucks left in the bank.

  4. I've been through this on Handling Spam from Large Commercial Entities? · · Score: 2

I was just in a big email war over this. This company moneyformail.com was sending me spam, and said that it was an opt in list. I never subcribed to anything like this. When I went to follow the link to cancel, it asked me for a usename and password. As I said, I didn't subscribe, so it had a link if you didn't know your login information. In order to remove you, they wanted my mailing address and the last four digits of my social security number! Like I'd give that out. I tried to tell the guy that I never even signed up for anything, and he had no way to even verify that information, but he insisted that he needed it. This is ridiculous. Here's a quote from the email:
