You'd probably be surprised by this, but the xbox already converts NTSC-> PAL and vice versa. You can check that with any HK R0 dvd for proof. The thing that currently limits multi-region dvd viewing is the remote dongle. If you buy a R1 dvd kit and plug it in, it currently locks the system to R1 (same as the R2 Japan, R4 Australia, etc). I've been checking out a lot of forums and I have yet to hear of anyone cracking the region viewing for this, though there is supposedly one coming out in the UK http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&thr eadid=191901 Haven't heard anything concrete about game importing either. I'm pretty sure most games produced so far are region specific, but that developers have been encouraged/given the option to leave out region encoding in the future.
