I also reject the question. Not only is it a tacit validation of bad programming practices it steps away from understanding the problems well enough to come up with an elegant solution.
I have some legacy products that started their lives on PC-104 boards running DOS. getting TCP/IP support onto these was arcane and generally miserable back when we started. New boards can run Linux and have great features but one great thing about DOS is it loads your app and gets out of your way. We're able to do real-time control in the 100 uS realm because of that. The only thing I need is access to more of the onboard RAM, everything else is just fine under DOS.
I'm donning my asbestos suit now....
I don't know if anyone else has pointed out the person using your laptop probably purchased it at a flea market and isn't the guilty party you're hoping to find. You can't even accuse them of recieving stolen goods.

Lots of hits on DIY vacuum tubes and they don't need to be made entirely from glass to work.
To me it's about whether or not any car would survive the circumstances; we've already established the drivers survived.

Sorry, you need ground based radar for your proposal.
I vote for YouFund over YouCut any day.
