The phrase was first used by Thomas Jefferson in a letter to the Danbury Baptist Association.
As John Adams said:
"The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion"
Yeah, no doubt, but we see that in blue states as well. Note the Dover, Pennsylvania trial from a few years ago.
