In my experience, the average user doesn't know what they want until they see something they like, and then they want it. This especially applies to computing products since so few understand what they are capable of, so imagining the possibilities isn't all that easy for them to do.
And no, the average person reading this post is not the same as the average user mentioned above.
And even if they did install them (unlikely) they would be sued into oblivion the first time they were used. Especially if it blocked a foreign embassy or other diplomatic presence. Besides, the economic hit would mean political suicide to whomever was responsible for the switch being flipped.
If you use ANYTHING on the Internet that is not encrypted then you're throwing away your "right" to privacy. I don't get how people can use sites like Twitter, Google, or Facebook and somehow expect some semblance of privacy. If you want privacy then don't share your data or encrypt it first before you send it to a known destination. It's like using a megaphone to talk with someone far away and then complaining that other people are listening to your conversation.
This sort of thing will be far easier once everyone has the proper brain implants. Then they could just program the right smell into your brain, no chemicals and no mess!
I sure as hell hope we never get to that day, though.:(
I'm not sure of the latest version, but I know previous versions of VirtualBox will not let you run a VM within a VM. I can't imagine why you would need to, but I'll admit that the thought of doing it is intriguing.
As time goes on. Ultimately, I'm hoping that software patents go away completely, since there is no clean way to define anything code a computer executes in a tangible way like actual physical products. If they survive in some form we will, eventually, end up with a completely unenforceable mess of lawyer bait (yes, worse than it is already).
Just because it is on Google (or Wikipedia, or anywhere else) does not mean it is a fact. THAT is the problem. Too many people repeat things they've heard or read as if they are facts, without ever researching validity.
Why post this response now instead of waiting a few hours and posting it when it is more relevant?
Back in the day they were Compaq luggables. :p
Luggable

Or Neptune versus Uranus?
uh oh mutation...
That's evolution. :p
And to take care of them we'll create nannites. :p
(or nanny-ites)
Whole new meaning to "whacking off in the bushes"?
What about Kosher?
No, I don't know why I'm asking these questions. :p
On a less serious note, does Rule 34 apply to naked singularities?

For those of us with balls, there is no "arguably". I would take a punch to the face over a kick in the balls EVERY TIME.
Maybe it is snails because it leaves a sticky, messy trail wherever it goes? :p
j/k
The implants have other uses... :p
I would have a headache 24/7 if I lived near or worked there. Ouchies.
I'm betting the steak scented sign won't go over well in parts of India.

Those individuals and groups need to patent their activities... ;)

Ring bling?
Unless we've unwittingly invented terraforming? :p
Also a very good point.
Exactly.
