almost everything they release is free (except for windows, office, and visual studio pro)... granted it's all part of vender lock-in so that Windows stays #1 for market penetration, but you can't say they don't give out free stuff. (not to mention they mailed me a free office 2007 t-shirt for beta testing and a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and Office Standard 2007 for working in a retail store that sells it and doing their "training" on it)
The iPad is not the iPod... the iPad doesn't really bring anything new to the table. It will fade into obscurity with all of the other ebook readers just like Palm PDAs did. Also like the Palm PDAs, it's very possible they may one day be reincarnated as something else and be wildly successful... (PDAs turned into smartphones - ebook readers may turn into a netbook-ized tablet pc... cheap and easy for ANYONE to use)
are you including project managers in your definition of management, because I would bet if you suddenly stripped MS of project managers you would have a serious problem
case in point: they seem to have issues with pronouncing words containing the letters L and R from what I've heard.
That makes sense to me as both typically involve the same lip movements. However in context of a word (or even an entire sentence), I would imagine you should be able to make a fairly decent guess at which it is.
DNA also lets you know if someone is related to someone else. If a child's DNA (in the registry) matched a killer from a cold case by some really high percentage then investigators can investigate their parents.
I think you're missing the point. They threatened rejection because they didn't want users to hear the name "Android." But dropping the banhammer on the word "Android" in the appstore only prevents people who already own an iPhone from finding out android exists.
What are they afraid is going to happen? Are they afraid iPhone users will drop their contract (pay an enormous cancellation fee) and switch to an android-based phone?
Your point was that "people by (sic) an iPhone because it is Apple and cool..." If that's the case, are you suggesting that "Android" will be cool (and thus a threat) because of the usage of its name in the appstore?
Do you think you would see "#4 best seller on Amazon.com" on a book sold at Borders or Barnes and Nobles?
Well they certainly aren't censoring the keyword "amazon.com" from their website or store...
Besides, do they really think the kind of person who would be buying an iPhone or an iPod touch wouldn't already know what Android is anyways? Not to mention the fact that if someone is already browsing the app store, then they probably already own one. It's a bad move if you ask me...
I want something that supports rotoscoping, multiple transparent layers, etc. with objects (stills, videos, vector graphics) that have properties that can be keyframed. In other words, I want an OSS After Effects killer. Gimp will one day surpass Photoshop (it's already pretty close), Inkscape will rival Illustrator, and Blender3d is arguably already at the same level as 3ds Max, yet there are no OSS alternatives for video solutions (at least not of the same magnitude as Blender3d and Gimp)...
yeah, I wasn't going to say anything but I was thinking the same thing... the microphone is analog and they have a chip to turn it into 1s and 0s (HIGHs and LOWs) for use on a PC.
It is of course completely possible to calculate, and the games actually do it.
So, your calculations are correct. But they don't take into account the fact that the scene viewed on the screen is not to scale with reality. Therefore, the real speed on the monitor is less, and the blur effect is therefore less pronounced, hence the need for artificial blurring.
So you're saying a 5" x 5" x 5" object going 25 mph moves at a different velocity than a 1" x 1" x 1" object going 25 mph?? I'm sorry, but Physics 101 teaches that velocity has absolutely nothing to do with size.
No, because the Bush/Cheney administration are incredibly talented at pulling one of the biggest conspiracies in the history of the US while being inept, ignorant, uneducated, stupid, and a horrible public speaker. In other words, one of the smartest stupid educated ignorant uneducated charismatic foot-in-mouther guys in the world was just POTUS and deceived the entire world while completely ruining - in secret, mind you - the US economy.
And for the next X years, anything that goes wrong with foreign diplomacy, military conflicts, or the US economy is Bush's fault that Obama (or whoever else) is "cleaning up" with "tried and proven methods" of some sort (that apparently we have known about since the 30s but I guess nobody wants to try them; that or they've been tried and failed but we don't want to admit it).
Congratulations on writing an entire paragraph full of ad hominem attacks without saying a single thing.
They used an open source operating system and stuck in on a removable (albeit internal) MicroSD card?? It's almost as though they wanted it to be hacked. And then they just implemented it with a SIM card (which makes me think the AT&T network abstracts it as a standard cell phone). I wonder what happens if you stick that SIM card in a cellphone (probably doesn't work or else it would've been in the article). Still... I think we all know this won't last for long
I would like to think that most people are smart enough to turn off their personal video recorder before committing a crime.
Isn't it illegal to covertly record audio of someone in public?
agreed (and I won't post A/C)

do you pronounce thought like though, but with a t on the end?
only if you're Canadian...
e (pronounced like "eel" without the "l") set (like the verb) nod (like the verb in: I nod my head) thirty two? It doesn't bother me...

No it doesn't.

you are a genius... I'd hire you just for that

I'm pretty sure you don't have to flip a coin in poker...
yeah I know, -1 Offtopic
Tagged "burnnotice" because Gabrielle Anwar is hot and Bruce Campbell is perfect for that show...
why hasn't this been downranked into oblivion?

Can't wait to see the results. I remember this guy from my cognitive psychology course.
maybe, but he doesn't remember you...
