Wow, we have stooped to calling it stealing now, I say they are stealing my bandwidth, privacy and security. I will allow secure, bandwidth lite, and non snooping ads to be rendered. If blocking the ads on a page allows it to render more than twice as fast, then it does not meet the bandwidth requirement. When the ads allow a third party any access whatsoever to my system, from introducing security loopholes or whatnot, they arnt secure enough for me. Then when ads try to track me, or find out more information from me then reasonable, then they are too intrusive for me. Until then I block all ads that don't meet that requirement.

  3. Re:Slow ads... on Are Ad Servers Bogging Down the Web? · · Score: 1

I think the problem is these annoying adds, especially ones with sound, will have a mute or pause button on them, usually small, easily missed, and people will go clicking for it, and pull up the advertisers web-page, which in turn leads to misleading statistics which make these annoying adds more popular to the advertisers. Although this is in the face of the fact that the advertisers web-page is pulled up and almost immediately clicked closed. Also never try to pause a video during the ad, it tends to think your interested in their product, so they helpfully load their page for you.

You can get blown off course pretty far... It is not inconceivable that a fishing ship in distress would head toward the cargo ship hoping for assistance. In fact if I was in a little fishing ship, and I was one of these conditions...

    A) Someone is sick on board.
    B) Radio is broken.
    C) Cant navigate for some reason
    D) Blown off course by friggin storm, and hoping for billion dollar ship to point you in right direction

Lotsa reasons to be sailing toward a cargo ship.

Thats the thing though, your not going to foul a container ships props with a single regular rope. Yes large or obsecenly strong ropes might do the trick, but good luck shooting something that heavy from a lil pirate boat.

Hmm so if they go buy a jet boat, then they can get around this fact... I doubt they are all going to go buy jet boats.

I know.. they are going to buy jet planes and helicopters now to get around this.

Just cause its not 100% doesnt mean it isnt a viable part of the solution, hell it shoots golf balls too... thats not something I want to be hit by.

She quit her position in Alaska, to either write her book, so shes greedy, and cares nothing for her constituents, or she quit to get ready to run for president. Which means shes power hungry and doesn't care about her constituents. EITHER way, I think shes an idiot.

Did you hear me defending Obama? I think most politicians are idiots, and tend to choose the lesser of two evils.

I can almost bet money that either:

    a) We haven't heard all or accurate facts about the case, judging from the source (fox news) this is a possibility.

    b) This is an extreme example of trying to play fair and give the terrorists a chance to make fools of themselves, by whining, and us to look better for given them a chance

If it is option a, well its hard to make judgment without the info, option b.. they wont get in trouble, for capturing him they probably will, and IMHO, should receive a medal.

As a realist, I should point out that we obviously have problems taking on two third world countries at once. That can be attributed to lack of foresight in the planning stages thou, I would say that if we had to take on the biggest five militaries in the world, they might bring friends with them too. How about we leave military might out of an economic discussion, it muddies the waters a bit.
