Perhaps he has faith in all the bullshit security theater one goes through when entering or leaving a country. Surely the Aussie PTB wouldn't allow a known terrorist to enter their country, right?
Is your response here an indication that Slashdot's resident statists are changing their tunes when it comes to bullshit "responses" to national security threats? I'll bet not.
It's always boggled my mind how a person can say that toilet-scrubbers don't deserve decent pay because they aren't necessarily 'valuable,' in the very next breath after saying "someone HAS to scrub the toilets."
I know that's not what you were getting at, just making an observation.
Well, it does actually impact things like what they pay for lunch, since, oddly, the more money a person has "on paper," the less they're expected to actually pay for.
If you were trying to be funny, you did a very poor job of it. You're also doing a very poor job of trying to be reasonable - for one, no, "many many people" likely have not trod that ground due to it being a remote, sparsely populated area. Secondly, jamming a signpost in the ground is a bit different than simply walking across an area.
To be fair, the BP disaster wasn't an accident, it was the result of negligence - they ignored well-established safety protocols in the name of (marginally) bigger profits.
Globally speaking, a good portion of "The Greatest Generation" were fucking Nazis. Another decent sized chunk were Marxist, another chunk Fascist, and yet another chunk, Japanese Imperialists.
But yea, it makes total sense to whine that today's generation is somehow worse, morally speaking, than the assholes who started the last world war.
Indeed - the only difference between Uber and traditional taxi services is that they've replaced "pick up the telephone and call" with "get on the internet and call."
Oh, and that whole "expectation that our commercial transport service not be considered a commercial transport service" attitude.
OK, so how about, instead of regulating Uber as the commercial transport service it is, we deregulate commercial transport services so they can be on a level playing field? You know, no more government mandated licensing and insurance, no special recourse for customers who are cheated\robbed\otherwise harmed by a driver, etc.
Or is that a phenomenally stupid idea for some glaringly obvious reasons?
The era in which one group of people will be able to control the commercial activities of third parties is coming to a close. Deal with it.
... he said, either forgetting or ignoring the fact that a group of people controlling the commercial activities of third parties is exactly what just happened.
And the problem with that, of course, is that a good decade of Jesus' life is undocumented - lord only knows (pun definitely intended) what kind of trouble He got into in His 20's.
The difference is that the former directly puts people in harm's way, whereas the latter are just words being spoken publicly. For example, Eminent sticking a gun to his ex-wife's head and screaming "Imma kill dis bitch!" would be felony assault, but him saying he would do that to a killer rap beat is a multi-platinum record.
Consumers want a program that will play any media you throw at it, without it whining about codecs or DRM or any other unneeded pains in the ass; I know this is a stretch... but has anyone at MS considered that?
I was going to argue that the difference is ant colonies, when exposed to certain chemical signatures, launch into a frenzy they can't control - this is why those Terro traps are so effective.
Then I remembered... all the Black Friday signs going up this week... perhaps not the best argument after all.
Also, you don't have to have a license or insurance to ride a horse. When and if the day comes that most people own automated cars, no one's going to bother learning to drive anymore... which kinda takes the wind out of the whole "you could rent a car when you need one" concept.
So basically, then, the notion is that people won't learn to drive because they don't have to, but they'll still be able to rent a Uhaul truck when it's time to move?

"X happened" is a fact.
"All Muslims are evil, because X happened" is an opinion.
The difference is glaringly obvious.

It shouldn't be a crime, because I wasn't trying to kill him, I was just trying to help him be healthier by letting out some of his blood.

Perhaps you should consider using /sarc tags.
You're not really defending blatant douche-baggery based on the notion that other people have been douche-bags in the past, are you?
To be fair, the BP disaster wasn't an accident, it was the result of negligence - they ignored well-established safety protocols in the name of (marginally) bigger profits.
So really, both acts were malicious.
Globally speaking, a good portion of "The Greatest Generation" were fucking Nazis. Another decent sized chunk were Marxist, another chunk Fascist, and yet another chunk, Japanese Imperialists.

You'd be amazed what stupid people will agree to do for a tenner.
No penalty, unless the release happens to be info they didn't want made public.
Otherwise, the person releasing the info has to seek asylum in Russia, apparently...

Cuz tossing around playground insults, rather than offer a cogent argument - that's the hallmark of intellect?
Yea, you go ahead and keep thinking that, Chief.

I presume this post was moderated Troll because "-1 Unpleasant Truth" isn't an option.

GOURANGA!!!
The muslim angle is just a distraction. The real problem is that when the girls or people around them did complain the police did nothing.
Really it's not. They(police, social services, etc.,) didn't do anything for fear of being labeled racists.
Doesn't seem to slow down US cops and social workers...
Statistically speaking, at least 1 of the Apostles had to be gay. My guess is Simon.

Not sure where the confusion is coming from.

Guess not.

Color me skeptical.
