    So, it's wrong to put the burden of proof upon the taxpayer as to what they owe?

    Absolutely, if the government claims you owe money, they damn well better provide the documents. Your banks and employers send it all in every month. They are the ones who should do all the paperwork. That's one of the things my taxes should pay for. Internal Revenue Service, not litigators.

    And considering what a bust the longevity of the CD was, and the players even worse, the best you can say for it will be its high entertainment value watching it operate, and malfunction spectacularly.

    "Useless" politicians will never do anything about it. It's up to you to elect more useful ones that might. Otherwise forget about it, and stop blaming the winners. They're just following orders.

    Why should US collect taxes on non-US activities?

    Because they can, and there is insufficient resistance to stop them.

    Which of course sucks... American individuals have to pay taxes on money they earn living outside the border. Why shouldn't these people? Don't answer, the question is rhetorical. If they want to be an American corporation, they should pay American taxes. But... we will do nothing to elect people that would write the appropriate laws. Therefore this article is meaningless. Nothing will come of it, except some advertising revenue.

    Without copyright, the end users would be in a much worse position since manufacturers could use any freely released code in any way they see fit with no obligation to their end users at all.

    The part that none of you are getting is that said manufacturers have no exclusive rights over what they put out. So anybody could just as easily take that and incorporate it into whatever they are making. The problem is solved. The lawyers are the only losers in such a scenario. Without copyright GPL is totally unnecessary. And we'll just cruise along perfectly nicely. It's time to end the age of antiquity. It's over, Johnny, it's over...

    Yeah well, let's see if fiber doesn't develop a serious case of cataract in 20 or 30 years. The stuff is still too sensitive. What was good enough for grandpa, and when you need robust.. and, when you want to transmit power over the same line, you have a hard time beating copper.

    The article is a Troll... for repeal of the 1st Amendment, should a constitutional convention ever come to town.

    Mass media is really trying to shut down the competition, They want to require licenses to print and post, copyright's next big leap, and it also helps to control whistleblowers, conspiracy theorists, truthers and nutters. Unfortunately, people will go for it, convinced it will bring peace and prosperity.

    It doesn't matter what trolls do. In a print media like this, they are too easy to ignore. People need to control their reactions. What we are looking at is an attempt to censor and control who can say what. This is no different than the FCC's "seven dirty words". We needs the trolls to make the rules unenforceable. All the freedoms we have now are because of the troublemakers.
