Exactly. This is actually part of my fear (and that of many other Linuxers) of the increased publicity and "user-friendly"-ness that Linux has received. Recognition is good, but the majority of Windows users just AREN'T savvy about security or computing in general, and they won't be as vigilant about contributing.
Personally, I'd rather Linux remain a "niche OS" so those of us who DO use it can continue to enjoy our freedom and security. I'd hate to see Linux and its community become corrupted because of sloppiness or "newbiness" on the part of our new "recruits"... -----
Red Hat is NOT the next Microsoft, despite what anyone will tell you. It just won't happen with Linux as open source. As long as we choose Red Hat, it will survive. If we don't like the way it's going, we stop using and supporting it. Simple as that. As long as Linux itself is controlled by the people, there isn't much of a problem.
From what I've seen, Red Hat is a very honorable company. They make their innovations available as open source, they provide good support for the community, and they're all-round doing a good job. Maybe the Micro$ofties were right -- perhaps many of us DO hate the smell of success, because that's what this looks like.
I wish everyone would just shut up about this. Yes, it's important that people know there are choices. But calling Red Hat the next Microsoft is unfair and ungrateful -- without Red Hat and similar companies, Linux wouldn't be where it is today. Distros don't matter as much as people think. I wish everyone would wake up and realize that.
Definitely right on! I mean, every time I finish a round of Q3 I go out and shoot everything in sight.
Seriously though, somebody should look into the violence increase in people who play Windoze games. I mean, having a crashy OS is bad enough, but not being able to run stable games to vent your frustration...
Oh and let's not forget modems, the most irritating of all technology! Now THOSE make me angry... well back to my 4000ms pings in UT.:-P

Yeah I've noticed that too... Great games or no, it's not very impressive to say that we're just NOW getting games like Alpha Centauri and SC3K. I got all excited about HG2 being ported, and my Windoze-using friends were like, "Huh? That's an OLD game!?"
Anyway, we need Loki working on games before they come out for other platforms. Their work on Civ CTP was pretty good, and they got the timing down good too...

What is the practical use for a .god domain name? Would religious sites actually use this? I can just see the possibilities for abuse...
