I'm not defending Democrats, advocating any political party when I say this, but Fox isn't news. The GOP+Fox have consolidated their power and have formed an authoritarian state, whoever posted this seems to be ignorant of that.
If its a story presented on Fox, then its intention is to make you hate the Democratic government (as if we needed the help). It isn't news and it isn't about Big Brother or your rights to privacy. The only reason a Fox story should ever be on Slashdot is to warn everyone of just how much the right-wing US government wants to take away our rights to open source, open internet, DRM-free artwork, etc., while squashing opposition to their corporate backers, all the while lying to you trying to make you think their standing up for your rights by drawing your attention to such a stupid story like this.
Exactly. Data backup is one thing: I'm sure you can find some open source script that automatically syncs the important files with your office's file sever, or you could write your own, and if you have decision making power in the IT department, you can mandate all laptops used within the company have this software installed to ensure data loss is always minimal.
Theft is another story. You can't make anyone pick good passwords, the best you can do is scare them into doing the right thing.
Languages that are supposedly fun and easy to use are a dime a dozen, and yet another like this "Go" is the last thing anyone needs. C++, Java, Python. Ruby, Perl, and now "Go" all are basically the same with different syntax and type checking features. Go won't solve their underlying problems.
That is why we have Ocaml and Haskell. I really can't understand why anyone even bothers with imperative languages anymore. Aggressive type checking and the everything-is-a-function paradigm is the only way to go.
