    Just proclaiming that they are adding solar panels to the white house probably burned more energy than they will ever produce. Think of the 10's of thousands of servers, laptops, routers, desktops, storage space, backup tapes, man hours, gasoline, blogs, new sites, images etc involved in this story about the white house is going green.

    I am curious, not trying to bust your chops or anything but how can you justify the cost on something that will never pay a return? I cannot see it ever being a good investment at todays prices at least.

    Yes there is a extremely good reason we could care less about solar and especially solar electrical power. My electric bill averages about 80 dollars a month, I live in the central part of
    the country at that rate it would take about 30 years to reach break even, if I could generate all my electrical needs with a 30k investment. As long as we have plentiful coal resources which
    we do electricity is a relatively cheap commodity.

    I doubt the US had anything to do with it, we have a administration with "no bag" in office. Isreal on the other hand would be my first suspect. I can only hope that part of the stimulus money made it to a worthy cause such as this.

    Funny, nobody finds it disturbing when I interview for a job. Usually they just say holy crap
    you are a experienced and accomplished programmer as well as a crack administrator, hired.

    I know a couple of ISP's that will immediately drop you as a customer for firing up bit torrent for any reason.

    Seriously, I know they still have a large part of the market but I have no desire to code for their
    platform. RIM, used to be the power player in the market but the larger they got the more complacent
    they got. Then Apple came along and knocked their asses off the stump they where standing on.

    No but then again most of us devs target the older platfrom and the older apps will run on IOS 4.

    Rip out the jvm and allow first class native code and I might think about it. It is impossible to port any of my iphone apps to Andoid and get a playable frame rate. I love the fact that Android runs a linux core but I refuse to code with one hand tied behind my back.

    Look I program for both Android basically sucks goat balls compared to running native code on IOS. Not only that but I don't have to worry about targeting a hundred different platforms I only have to address one. I build a app for the iphone it looks the same on ipod touch(all versions), iphone (all versions), ipad.

    Someone with a high degree of motivation and insider knowledge had to be responsible for such a pointed attack. Someone just wanting to create some havoc could have just built a worm that probes the network for modbus tcp devices and started firing values into the registers.

    Point and click utility apps are relatively simple to do on the android. If you are targeting high performance applications such as 3d games the IPhone clearly owns that space.

    "If an enemy had penetrated the networks and changed coordinates or target times". Why change the coordinates and risk detection, he only needs to know where you will be at a certain time and place the stinger and or surface to air missile will do the rest.

    Yes there are plenty of us, however none that I know that would "put up with" the BS imposed by such a organization. While in the military you have no choice you do what you are told no matter how big of a idiot you are working for. In a civilian job you tell the person he is a idiot and go work for someone you want to work for without the threat of being locked up for "failure to obey".

    You are correct, I am a 10 yr combat veteran and your explanation is exactly why I would never work a Govt / Military position again. It is a virtual breeding ground of stupidity something I am very glad to be free of.
