I agree... I think that is why movies such as Contact, Apollo 13 and other science based movies with good dramatic elements do well... at least with respect to the average person.
I would argue against the benefit of the first point... same time zone. From the companies point of view outsourcing to a different time zone allows them to extend the workday beyond 8 hours... which increases profit margins in addition to the lowered pay.
But if a student plans on using this resource, it might be better to also look at the graduate school edition... epecially if you have an idea of the major or department you want to be in. Looking at the grad edition give one an idea of the quality of the departments, with a focus on the quality of the professors and grad students. The quality of the professors are important, but equally important is the quality of the grad students who end up being your teaching assistants.

I think it will only begin to happen when linux has its "equivalent" version of parallels.
Once this happens the average user will begin to feel comfortable using linux fulltime with the knowledge that access to windows is easily available.
