  1. Obviously on AI in Sci-Fi · · Score: 1

...They would start writing science fiction right away.

  2. Of course not, you moron. on Could Square Re-Dub the "Final Fantasy" Movie? · · Score: 1

They're not gonna re-model and re-render the entire movie over a whole new other-language soundtrack. That's ridiculous. Get a job.

  3. Best to hold off until the bugs are worked out. on Send out the Clones? · · Score: 5

It's probably best to have a moratorium on human cloning at least until other mammals can be cloned reliably, without the horrible, somewhat random side effects they have now. Mice can't even be cloned yet properly without a high percentage of them suddenly becoming morbidly obese upon reaching what would be the human equivalent of about 30. There are also many other problems such as developmental disabilities and other "random" effects. Basically, take the mouse chromasome, munge up some random DNA and lets see if it works.

It's also pretty immoral to clone an entire human being just for their organs or for slavery. What do you do with them when they're no longer useful? Kill them? Might as well kill ageing migrant farm workers or old people in general. Lets get rid of all the handicapped and sick and retarded people while we're at it.

  4. I WANT to pay on Napster Back in Court · · Score: 1

I have been waiting for some way to pay the artists whose work I want to use. It's great to be able to sample something to see if you like it, but I would like to compensate the artist a fair price. If Dynamite Hack got 25 cents for every time someone downloaded that NWA cover off napster I'm sure they would be very happy. Am I going to buy the album just to secure the rights to listen to that novelty song? No. Should Dynamite Hack be able to easily accept some money for me (or even come to any agreement with me more directly)? Yes. I would gladly give them a dollar for that song. A Paypal/tipjar "honor system" would be great, but how do you find where a particular artist wants to get paid? I've actually stopped using napster, because using it with no way to pay the artist is immoral. The only way to pay them now is to go buy the CD. It would be nice to be able to decide whether I like something before I buy it. I bet if an honor system type situation were put in place, the really popular artists might suffer, but most other artists would get a lot more money. The record companies would be giving up a lot of cash, but they're not really necessary any more anyway.

  5. Why? on Cross-Platform Development Tools? · · Score: 1

You didn't mention having your app run on Linux as a requirement. If it's a Windows only product and you want to use C++ Builder, why not use it and just develop on Windows? Do you have some good reason for wanting to develop on Linux?
