Well.... there was the Firefox OS which is open source.
I guess Tizen would have the benefit of the Samsung name... But as soon as standard consumer buys the latest Galaxy X and it doesn't come with all the Google spy..er..software they know and love they will return it and buy something that can run bejeweled or whatever.
I am really not sure how even Samsung could pull this one off. If Microsoft couldn't do it, I am not sure what kind of chance Samsung has.
Most of the time, when they want to show something "happening" it always seems like it is one of the following:
1. Cat of some text file, log or source code on a semi transparent console window 2. Custom script of output text (hello world type of thing) also on the transparent console window 3. Some custom GUI using Tk or Qt windows that open and close very fast and at least one progress bar 4. A map that zooms in/out 5. An image or video
Also, during any of these, the "hacker" is seen to be typing away madly at the keyboard but somehow doesn't seem to be using any key modifiers (CTRL, ALT, SHIFT) and doesn't appear to be directly affecting anything seen on the screen.
I am also amazed that people who are pressed for time (the owner of the computer is about to walk in the door) always seem to know exactly what they are doing even though they have (presumably) never seen this computer/software. I know if it was me, I would go to put in my USB thumb drive and find that the IT staff hot glued the port or the local AV is blocking the file transfer or it is a USB-C and I don't have an adapter so I try to e-mail it to myself but the e-mail program is password protected so I try to use web based mail, but my 2FA blocks access from this device so I have to dig out my phone, but I have no service so I try to connect to an open WiFi hotspot, but there is something wrong with it and I am not getting an IP address or the authentication gateway is broken..... and I'm caught by the guy walking in the door....
Actually there are a couple of things I have heard (not personally tested) that you can do:
1. Set local GP to assign your WAN connection to a metered connection - This works by telling Windows that your WAN connection is metered so that downloading anything will cost money. Updates will not be auto downloaded in this case. 2. Set WU to profile 2 (notify before downloading and installing any updates) - This works by telling Windows not to download the updates until authorized. If the update is not downloaded, it cannot be installed.
The simple solution is to lock down the "all" distribution list so only certain (very few) senders can send mail to it. I am not sure why this would not have been done... I am actually surprised that this hasn't happened before if everyone has send access to this list....
If course, if the distribution list was enumerated on the client prior to sending, that is a different story. But I can't imagine any client that would work reasonably with a million individual recipients.
People at the top are always blameless if they only keep two degrees of separation from the plebes?
Part of the risk of being at the top is that you are the person blamed. This is how it should be. You are profiting greatly from that risk. What people at the top are trying to convince everyone of (and are doing a really good job of it) is that they are blameless for anything.... but they sure will reap the rewards that all the underlings create for them....
Which is fine. However, ObamaCare never billed itself as the be-all-end-all solution. It is a starting place, it was compromised to hell just to scrape into law.
But the interest is not in fixing or fleshing out the system. The interest is in gutting/scrapping the system without replacing what will be lost.
Meh, I don't see that happening.... Trump has already had his fun. He is 70 FFS. He has done all the fast living he wanted to do. He has gotten to a point in life where he now wants to leave a legacy and is willing to make sacrifices (whatever that means to him).
The thing that makes me sad is that this is the role model we have chosen to hold up and say to our young boys, "If you live your life like him, you could be president of the US someday"

What? Don't guns always make ktcht sounds whenever moved more than 2 centimeters in any direction?

The issue is that you can't turn it off.

Please remove me from this list

Everyone has the same needs.
Everything else is wants.
The use of CAPS in the document appear to be guidance directives.
They use MUST, SHOULD and STRONGLY RECOMMENDED as sign posts for guiding the reader toward the "dos and don'ts" of proper android OS design.
I guess I am not sure that I see the arrow from STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to REQUIRED.... especially since they already use MUST for that purpose.
Because only clowns would want to run for the job of POTUS.... that is why we only ever get bozos.
Seems like a lot malware is still installed via malicious ads.
Is the algorithm smart enough not to ding the site if it is Google's own ad network that is serving the malicious content?
Good point.
This should make everyone feel better because it illustrates the limits of presidential power.
They president simply does not have the power to affect most of the stuff they promise on the campaign trail.
Do we get to include self promoting of properties and businesses in that count?
Except, don't you remember during that first debate when he agreed with Clinton about gun control?
Not really sure why nobody ever talked about that.
Somehow, I doubt that dismantling it will lower premium costs one bit.
The only way to do that is to replace the system they are going to gut with something better.... but nobody is interested in doing that.
cheaper solution than a physical wall.
Weren't you listening? The wall will cost America $0.00 because Mexico is going to pay for it. Geez... where have you been?
Tim Gunn 2020!
There are more Trump branded posts on the front page of /. than there are Trump branded buildings...

Whatever happened to "the buck stops here"?

Makes sense, electrolytes is what plants crave...
The fix isn't ObamaCare.
Which is fine. However, ObamaCare never billed itself as the be-all-end-all solution. It is a starting place, it was compromised to hell just to scrape into law.

So congrats snowflakes, you actually got this old-school liberal to vote for Donald Trump.
Why can't anyone ever take responsibility for their own decisions?
Meh, I don't see that happening.... Trump has already had his fun. He is 70 FFS. He has done all the fast living he wanted to do. He has gotten to a point in life where he now wants to leave a legacy and is willing to make sacrifices (whatever that means to him).

This really is the world of our own making.
But they were all competing for the same carrot.
Now all they have to do is prefix all proposed legislation with "Trump" or "Fantastic" to avoid the veto.
One nice thing about this is that we have at least 4 years of comedy gold ahead!
Boy, I hate Monday's.... oh wait... it's Wednesday... nm
