    Diebold is a joke, we all know that. Why is everything an excuse to bash Bush? None of the democraps are any better. They are all bought and paid for. They all lie.

    As for Edwards. He could not win in NC on a bet. Why? Because he spent the last 5 years running for President. He has missed half the senate votes during that time and has no clue about being a Senator. He was not going back to the Senate if he ran because we are sick of a lack of representation.

    I have asked Intuit to port Turbo Tax to Linux every year for the last three. The first time they emailed me and said thy were looking into it. I have been ignored the last 2 times. I don't expect a response this year either. When someone come out with something similar for Linux, Intuit will never get another dime from me.
    Quasar from Linux Canada is nice accounting software. It can be used as personal for 30 bucks or upgraded to business far cheaper than any Win product I've heard of. Not free but useful and modestly priced.

    A step at a time, first networks, then the desktop. The domination by Linux will not happen overnight. How long did it take M$ to get where it is? Look at where they are now, with all the mistakes(Win 3.0, 95, Me, Bob), that get repeated, over and over and ...... and they are still the biggest gorilla on the planet. Don't think the Linux world won't make a few, but we are (hopefully) smarter and have learned from the mistakes of others and won't repeat them.

    Only if they pay half the trench cost. It is not a municipalities job to make profit for utilities, and I'll be damned if my taxes will pay for it. The telco has been ovecharging everyone since time began and can afford anything they want. "But since it might lower profits 1% we can't do it without a 10% rate increase".

    It's amazing that any judge in any country came up with a simple and common sense solution. Maybe some US courts can pay attention, rulings don't have to be 20 pages of convoluted crap thats unreadable to 90% of humanity.

    Is there a way to send this to the judge in Utah? It might make this a short case.

    Under that form of Goverment it's quite possible. They might have registration of all computers with the Govt. with prison for non-compliance. You have to consider the total lack of respect for human life, and attempts at total control of everything. That makes it easier.
    The Chinese Govt. is terrified of the prople finding news and other info that is not filtered through 'approved agencies'. When they get clear unfiltered info, it could cause a revolution. Yes that sounds paranoid, but that Govt. is paranoid. Look how fast the Soviet Union collapsed. The way they have treated the average citizen they have good reason to be fearful.

    Intel starts copying AMD. Lets see now AMD has provided more bang for the buck at least since Athlon came out. That means equal to better performance for less money. Intel's sales drop a small amount and the start copying AMD. Now if their prices start reflecting reality, this might be good. But I'll probably get another AMD anyway.

    The procurement process for large weapons is such a huge mass of paper, it seems to take 20 years to figure out if anything is possible or not. Put a hireing freeze on Washington. Let attrition, retirement reduce the employees by 50%. That will speed things up, when the number of useless reviewers that have no authority to make decisions is cut in half.

    Remember, beaurocrats don't actually do anything, they just generate enough paper to justify their existance.

With Darl and friends spending 5 to 10 as Bubba's girlfriends they won't be able to cause more trouble. A criminal conviction will also end SCO's suits against everyone else.

    Finally an intelligent response. Having been in the US Navy once upon a time, I know of the planning groups. Just like ANY other think tank, they are paid for ideas and possible solutions. That does NOT guarentee that any action will ever be taken on any of these possibilities. But foresight at least gets the process thought out in generalities before they might be needed.

    There was a project as White Sands, NM in the early 90's involving hypervelicity. They put a plastic BB through a 2inch thick aluminum platee at over 5000 MPH. The exit hole was about 1.75 inches, entrance was 5mm.

The rest are good people who would rather help than anything else. I knew a good one when I was a teen, carried the same ticket book for 8 years, never used it up.
