"which were so sophisticated in design that the inventor didn't even bother to get a patent, because (supposedly) they were almost impossible to reverse-engineer. "
Wow. Thats pretty cool. However, I was wondering if you knew how far the research has come with these Nanotubes. For example, has there been any actual experimentation yet, or have scientists only been able to formulate some expected results? And, if you know the answer to that, when do you think nanotubes will have developed enough to be an effective inexpensive alternative to consumers?
Oh crap-that would be a problem for me then. It's not really the stockmarket I'm talkin about though. I'm just thinking we will see more embedded linux products on the market if there is a big success with Lineo. Sorta obviuous, I know, but still something to look forward to.
Well-since the stock market has recently become a little less enthusiastic with Linux, perhaps this will help to "bring the magic back" in the businessmen's minds.
Once again, curiosity kills the cat. How many of you, honestly, went ahead and clicked those two links at the bottom of those "Slashdot Security Bug" messages, even with that warning not to click them? I did. Maybe now you can understand how viruses spread so easily, and possibly, you can sympathize just a little bit with those poor (mainly windows using) victims of "The Love Virus".
Well-I'm really glad that the Duron will be out soon. The celeron is inferior to the pentium 3 chip, but the duron is nearly (in my opinion) equal to the performance of the p3. So, hopefully we will soon have p3 caliber chips for less price than the inferior celerons. Good job AMD!
Well...Im amazed. There are so many possibilities for this type of technology. With rapid prototyping and comptuing advances to come, we could just plunk down a central processing/production center somewhere, give it a task, and let it go.
On a side topic, it's almost reminiscent of how in rts games like C&C, endless tanks just kept pouring out of those little factories. Being able to do that in real life would be amazing.
But back to the main point. I really think this could be usefull in some upcoming space colonization missions (see the article/. just ran). Who can imagine what else can happen for these little guys. (Hell-no one knows! That's what the little guys are evolving themselves for! Oh well, Ill just go sit in a corner now.)
Obviously, lots of people have already suggested its use as an MP3 player, but due to the poor sound quality it probably wont happen. But, just think of the possibilities opening up from computers such as this. The hardware configuration already beats my desktop configuration, and Im sure theres more to come. For one example, hotels could also offer included monitors and keyboards (in addition to "data ports") in their suites, allowing you to merely hook up your mini-PC and go. You wouldnt have to worry about lugging around a screen, keyboard and battery like a laptop. And it wouldnt just be hotels; Many other places could be coerrced into setting up monitors and keyboards to plug into. Ever went to a lot of trouble to haul your computer to a LAN party or some other such event? With added network support, these mini-PCs would eliminate much of that task. All you might need would be some of your accessories, the monitor(possibly) and your mini-pc. The possibilities are endless. Hope the future holds success for these mini-pcs.
Ack-an elephant! The logistics of that would be insane. Youd need military helicopters, air drops, elephant handlers...egads! But, I admit it would be pretty damn impressive.
Hell; who needs robotic Yerry Seinfeld? (Yes, I saw the episode) What I'd like to see would be a match between Aibo and your animatronic Rooster Rot. And, of course, my money's goin on Aibo. Aibo may look harmless, but under that oh-so-cute semi-opaque face plate lurks the mind of a vicious killer. Disregard the dull plastic paws and the lack of teeth; Aibo knows how to go for the kill. Switch that bad boy into performance mode and Rooster Bot wont know what hit him; Aibo's been trainin with the Motion Editor, and hes got some killer moves. Just you wait, Rooster Rot, yes, cower in fear, cuz Aibo's comin to get ya!

Wasn't that what IBM said?

You know, with all these warning replies, one really has to wonder just who is actually still clicking on that stupid link. Not much I can do, though.

It follows that those dowloading and exchanging your music are your own fans, so why are you trying to alienate them by punishing them?
