Yeah, I hear they just settled on a name for this new technology. Its called RADIO.
I hear that Mead Corp has just come out with a combination storage device/display that boasts infinite resolution, portability, and allows for an infinite number of colors to be displayed.
Theyre calling it PAPER. Wow, the world sure is changing.. Heh
If you people are pissed off, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!:)
When the Halloween memo surfaced, it pissed me off so much I started an entire project hell bent on quietly destroying Microsoft..Got picked up by Themes.org two months later.. And now, I'm getting several thousand hits per day on my site, many of them refugees directly from the Windows camp. When the last volume of Propaganda was released, I had nearly 10,000 copies move in the first 24 hours alone.
The more Gates pisses me off, the harder i'm going to work at pulling people away from Windows.. Its as simple as that.
While my effect on Gates' user base is appreciably small, it still exists. It is possible to do something about the stuff that pisses you off. Thats whats so cool about the Linux community. One person can not only make a difference, but help _others_ make a difference as well.
The term "geek" goes go back to the turn of the century..literally, a carnival worker who spent 9 to 5 locked in a cage, biting the heads off of rodents/poultry as people were paraded through a "house of horrors"..So, Katz is right in that respect.:)
Now if only we could find one that would bite the heads off of inept and clue-needy journalists.;)
Agreed. I was thinking the exact same thing when I was reading that article.."Dump this loser. I come here to read Slashdot, not 'ComputerLife'.."
See, I wouldnt mind if Katz were simply uninformed...There was a point where all of us had to learn about Linux somewhere. But that isn't the case here. Katz is intentionally writing pile after pile of bass-ackward manure which neither adds value to Slashdot, nor provides any insight into what most of us already know.
Katz doesn't need to be tarred and feathered -- But he sure as hell doesn't need to be on Slashdot, either.
I wouldn't worry about Microsoft. We already have their head in the guillotine, we're just waiting for enough people to gather 'round before we drop the blade.:)
The whole Linux movement is proof of a simple, natural law -- If You Dont Like Something, You'll Change It. The more Microsoft whines and lies, the more angered the Linux community becomes. Anger translates into productivity. Ten thousand programmers worldwide versus a shoebox full of huboons in Redmond. Guess who _my_ money's on?:)
Its the double-edged sword he referred to in his announcement.
Building an emulator so people can learn from it, and perhaps even develop for it is one thing (and thats cool) but to abuse it for the sake of running pirated ROMs is quite another. One is a learning experience, the other is essentially a crime.
I dunno about the rest of you, but I took the time to write a little nasty-gram to Toshiba back when this story originally hit Slashdot.. Apparently enough people raised enough of a stink to force Toshiba to snap out of it.

I outright told them I wouldnt buy their any of their laptops because of it..Opting to go with a laptop I knew had greater support under Linux.

Sorry to see the guy go, tho.

The squeaky wheel gets the grease..

Yeesh.. You might as well just go out and BUY the damn console, for all the headaches. Heh.
Bowie
I'll stick to my Commodore 64 emulator in the meantime. :)
.....How? :)
Dear Earth Shoes,
Thank you for showing me how fucking retarded your company is. I will be sure to buy my next pair of shoes from your competitors.
