  1. Re:speaking on behalf of the Illuminati.... on Review: Tomb Raider · · Score: 1

I want to formally protest the blackening of the Illuminati's name by being portrayed as the bad guys in so many movies, openly here in Tomb raider and in thinly-disguised slanders in so many other films and novels. Just because you're a secret underground society, it makes defending your name and good works ever so much harder...ahem, sorry.

Christ, some moderators need to get a clue... how can the above be classed as "insightful"? Funny? Yes. Overrated? Possibly. Insightful? Hell no!

  2. A little late maybe... on Wave/Sea Power - What Are the Dangers? · · Score: 1

Well, I dunno about most of you, but as of the current time (12pm here), 1/2 the world is now in 2nd April, so maybe this is getting a little late.

Seems that most Americans don't care about the rest of the world, so facts like this don't matter to them...

  3. Re:Try minidisc on Ogg Vorbis - The Free Alternative To MP3 · · Score: 1

    I can't resist...

    ARE YOU STUPID??!!??

Minidisc work by encoding the music in a format that reduces the total bandwidth... this results in dropping the top and/or bottom end off the recording. A decent song with deep bass and soraing treble will sound like shit as either the bass AND treble are dropped, or bass OR treble is dropped.

Imagine the waveform of the recording with it's peaks and troughs... not choose a square that is significantly smaller than the height between the lowest trough & heighest peak... that's your encoding window... you can move it up or down, but your waveform will still be outside the box.

This means your Minidisc recordings sound a hell of a lot worse than CD, a lot worse than MP3 and almost as bad as tape... is it worth it for recordable digital music?

  4. Re:Why for sale? You can get them from the authors on 95 (thousand) Theses (for sale) · · Score: 1

Hell, why doesn't someone start up a website with the same thesis' on them & offer them at a minimal cost.

Say, charge photocopy, binding, postage etc, but not the fees that are being charged.

It would be a great service to the people doing research out there who are looking for thesis which aren't availabel locally. Maybe even throw in a search engine. I'm sure someone would be willing to do it.

  5. Where will the money go? on States Sue Record Companies For Price Fixing · · Score: 1

Ok, I'm not an American so i don't know what the policy is, but who really wins here? 28 States sue the record companies... they get US$480+ million... where does that go? Who get's it? Are they gonna distribute it to all the CD buyers? What about overseas buyers? What about online sales? Do people who bought many CDs get more? How will they tell? ("Hey, I've got 100 CDs, so I get 100 times the $0.01/CD, kewl") This seems to me like a ploy to get lots of money, make a stance, slap some hands, and carry on as normal. The record companies will probably just increase the price of CDs to pay the fines anyway :P My NZ$0.02 (which becomes less & less every day...) Macros

  6. Re:TOS (was Re:Data point) on Hotmail about to collapse under load · · Score: 1
It did seem to me that there was a point (maybe 18-24 months ago or so) at which Hotmail's user list was comprimised (either by leak or by guessing). I went from recieving practially no unsolicated spam at hotmail, to getting several a day. It became pretty much intolerable until they added the bulk mail filtering, which I think works admirably well.

Well, considering most of the spam emails I get through my hotmail account are targeted to a block of email address (all similar, or around mine) I would say they either still are being leaked, or the address lists are still active.
