This is typical ZDNET...M$ is good, the latest from Redmond is the greatest - even if it doesn't work....M$ just as well could buy ZDNET, since ZDNET and M$ appear to be but buddies anyway...I have only seen a small handfull of unbiased editorials in any of their content.....
Now don't get me started on that microsquish marketing person Kim Komando...
Actually, StarOffice does have revision tracking (not sure about abiword). Both SO, ABIword and WP have underlined misspelled words. Many of the other features you mention are most likley present in the major productivity suites (I don't have a regular need for them). GS can print postscript to almost any printer. I've used gs to print out documents on everything from a ImageWriter II to a Minolta Pageworks 20 (I didn't spend the $300 for the PS option for the PW20) without any problems. Anyway, why would you use software from a company that doesn't trust it's own software? (Hotmail relies on FreeBSD (NT has never been able to handle the load), Solaris is used to create distribution disks (From their document on how they keep distrbution media virus-free)) BTW, how is the weather in Redmond today?
Pricing info? I know there is an EEPROM shortage keeping pricing high.. For it to make waves in the cell phone and consumer devices it will have to be dirt cheap first post?
There is some correct press about the virus - Here is a snip from the St. Paul (MN) Pioneer Press in this article -snip
The St. Paul Public School District was basically unaffected as well, said Judith Franklin, assistant director of management information systems for the district. One ``ILOVEYOU'' e-mail was received and deleted immediately. The district does not use Microsoft programming to handle its e-mail. That also spared Washington County offices.
Here is a good HOWTO on how to provide exchange "features" to an open system using Sendmail/Cyrus .co m/old/docs/exchange-replacement-howto/

And here is a different example, even including scheduling

Too bad this paragraph wasn't on the front page. When AOL and Netscape made their deal, didn't Sun have a part in the deal? I would say they already have an OS they could use (Solaris or JAVA OS)
