I can't believe you wrote so much while saying so little, how about some dates, models and specs. If you bought an underpowered thinkpad it's your own damn fault, cause almost every model has about 5 different cpu options. My 5 year old x220s still kicks ass due to it's desktop processor, and battery life is better than any mac due to it's 9 cell battery option (you should check it out it's available for most models). Also i said you didn't need to spend $2000. The comment above mine seemed to think the only option was a $2000 apple, my thinkpad option was 900 and filled all of the desired specs of mr jakooistra.

good job at saying screw oranges, go eat an apple. I was only showing a good computer that meets the criteria of the story (everything he asked for is there). If you want light weight, thin, and small the thinkpad x1 carbon comes in at 3 pounds and packs more horsepower.

Sure the keyboard isn't as nice to type on as my x220, but it's just as good if not better than the macbook and it's still spill proof. Plus since it's for a woman she may appreciate the aesthetics.

Your comment sure makes it sound like you wont get a good computer unless you put down 2 grand on an apple. Personally I would recommend lenovo, the thinkpad series is tough, customisable, good support, good warranty, good specs, and a much more tolerable price. For example the new thinkpad edge e530 with the new 3rd generation intel ivybrdige cpu i7-3612QM (22 freaking nm), 2gb nvidia graphics card, up to 16gb of ram, 15.6 inch screen at 1600x900, optical drive, win 7 64 bit, all for only $899 of the australian lenovo site (strangely i couldn't see a ssd option which they almost always do, but the op could set that up himself for $250). It's more than capable of whatever gets thrown at it and you have 1100 dollars left.

I was talking about the decision they 'the scientist' made to use stereo cameras on the rover destined for the moon instead of a laser range finder. Also as Im sure they have tested their system on earth (they aren’t going to wait till 2014 to see if the cameras work) so the rover has been used in the past tense.

I'm sorry for not explaining my question in greater detail, i assumed any one that could answer my question would know what i was on about due to the huge troubles associated with putting the mapping tech anywhere but the rover (if it was on earth then you would have to broadcast the map back to the rover essentially being in the same position as if it was non autonomous).

I do have plans for finger print or wifi authentication electronic locks on my house and car, but I'm not there yet, and till then I'll have to take my keys when I leave the house. If I'm only going out for an hour or two on a bike ride, or out for lunch I don't care if I get a call, however i would like to know the time. The watch is undeniably a lot more convenient than a phone, you just twist the wrist verse reach into a pocket flip it the right side up and turn on the screen followed by the reverse procedure, the phone is hard to secure in some pants, the bulk and weight is annoying, and the phone is possibly broken if i say come of my bike (far too often lately), or get caught in the rain/fall in the river (i've got a waterproof case but it's a terrible pain).

Personally I'd like to see the samsung flexible oled screens in watch phone with good speech recognition; then (and when i perfect the key-less house hold) i can go out all day with nothing in my pockets (never have to wonder if i have forgotten something and no more locking myself out of the house) and still have the joys of the internet on hand.

If you do want to carry a phone aswell but just want to check the time or see if an sms is important, you can skip the rifeling though your pockets with a smart watch like the pebble or somthing.

This sounds a bit more sophisticated than your average ddos ers. You need specially designed worms to go after control systems, and once its in there its no use just doing random stuff or breaking it; you need to change the right values just enough to disrupt production but not enough to be noticed (otherwise they just replace the $50 chip), or try to cause a massive explosion by going after some vital pieces of equipment and disabling all safety stops (while appearing normal to the human operators). Not saying some mad scientist hacker engineer couldn't do it on there own, but Israel and america are much more likely culprits (they have better access to companies providing Iran's equipment) and after the hacking of the US drone while over Iran i'm thinking its the world police.

Some people like to be told what to like (arguably apples strongest card, you don't have to think about specs you just buy the next Iversion) and some people like to fiqure it out for themselves and weigh up the options from multiple companies. Every one that dosen't join a cult dosn't feel left out of the cult (they are gratefull for not giving all their money and possesions to a clown with charisma and working for free in a compound) even if they point out that the cult is telling people what to like.
