The A.C. Gilbert House and Discovery Center in Salem, Oregon has many of Gilbert's invention, including this toy. I remember seeing it there in the late 90's and again when I visited about 4-5 years ago. If you're in Salem, it's worth a visit.
One of the main points of discussion at this conference was the fragmenting of bullets as they enter animals that people will eat. Along with the rise in companies that process the animals for hunters and often do not remove the bullets before grinding the meat, has caused an increase in the amount of ingested lead of hunters, their families and carrion bird.
Since we don't know what's killing them, shouldn't we spend more resources figuring that out before trying to cure the symptom? If it eventually affects people, wouldn't more research on the cause be better than a band-aid fix for this one?
