In the real world, the President, VP, Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State all deal with the most sensitive information in the government. They all need the highest protection possible for their communications. This even includes their personal communications, because bad actors could take advantage of any information, even something as trivial as knowing when someone is going to be out with their family.

The NSA made a value judgement about the person holding the position, and ignored the national security aspects involved. It was clearly a personal snub based on political prejudice.

The NSA budget is in the multi billions of dollars, and yet they "can't afford" to support the Sec of State? This is just another one the lies that the security establishment pumps out all the time. It's in the same category as pretending that they are not mindlessly hoovering up all electronic information over the entire globe, or that they haven't already cracked the iPhone in the San Bernadino terrorism case. They lie compulsively, and it wrecks their ability to do their job right.

Instead of engaging in a 100% politically motivated witch hunt of Hillary Clinton, why doesn't the Congress investigate the incompetence and corruption of the US security establishment? They'll never do it, because the Congress is neck deep in their own personal corruption. It's an open secret that Congress and their staff make personal profit (i.e. serious wealth) by using information they get from intelligence sources. Congress and staffers are the only people in the US who are exempt from restrictions on stock trading using insider information. And one way or another, insiders at the NSA, FBI, CIA, DHS, etc etc get a cut of the pie.

So keep in mind that all this fuss about Hillary Clinton also serves the purpose of distracting attention from just how poorly our security establishment operates, and how much money the put in their pockets. Greed and incompetence go hand in hand, and the current setup rewards the worst possible behavior.

Heck, Trump just told the public he is well hung during a presidential debate. For the Republicans a "big tent" means that any level of stupid is allowed. The fact that so many Republicans hold elected office is a measure of the blind idiocy of the American public.

When it comes to web stuff I see a lot of fad driven behavior, i.e. new=cool=good.

I have also been trying to choose between React and Angular for my next web effort. Without any clear release schedule for Angular 2, it seemed a tossup. Now that I've found out how far along it is the only rational choice is Angular 2.

So Google has 231 confirmed contributes for Angular 2, and React has how many? Does anyone actually know? And since Google will be shifting resources from Angular 1 to Angular 2, it's clear that Angular 2 will be very well supported in the future. What kind of guarantee is there that React will get the same level of support that Google will provide in the next three years?

If you RTFA, you'll notice that Google is using it internally for CRM and will be testing it in public with weather.com. Google is not infallible, but they do have skin in the game as far as their reputation is concerned. It will be solid and the roll out will be on time.

So for an organization of any size that depends on it's web presence, do you think they will go with Google or with Brand X? At some level, it doesn't make any difference if Brand X is better. And once the network effect kicks in, Angular 2 will dominate. The race has already been decided.

It seems like React is the Cool Kids choice. It's New! Of course, there is a cost associated with new stuff, because it is not wrung out yet. But being ahead of the curve is a powerful inducement for a lot of people.

The fact that Google re-architected Angular means that they took the lessons they learned the first time and made it better. Somehow that is not cool, even though it is good engineering practice.

As for whining about changing the API, grow up. When the choice is a syntax change vs a completely different system, which is the better investment? There is the cool answer, and then there is the right answer.

Arguing that so many people use Angular 1 that Angular 2 will be dead in the water is foolish. When Google ends support for version 1, do you think that the internet hoards will leap into action and take over maintenance and development? Or is it more likely that there will be a well defined process to move from 1 to 2, and 2 will become the de facto standard?

If you want to use React, great. It might be the future. However if you are interested in having a known quantity with good support and large user community, Angular 2 will meet your expectations. Even if it is not cool.

And I bet you can also get a great deal on real estate in the Aliso Caynon area right now because there are a lot of "motivated" sellers. According to you, there's no real impact from those "single issue" problems, so you should jump on that property.

Your assertion is overly simplistic. Republicans always want lower taxes and no regulation because of they want more profit. So in Flint you get a few thousands dollar savings and end up with a $100 million plus long term liability, and in California you get Southern California Gas not replacing an old emergency valve or maintaining their infrastructure because "Profit!", and now they are similarly in a big economic hole.

This class of infrastructure failure is always preventable by doing proper monitoring and ongoing maintenance, which costs money. Mindless cost avoidance often ends up being much more expensive then doing the right thing in the first place. It's not just a Democrat vs. Republican issue, but the Republicans fanatical cost cutting makes it much more likely to happen.

    Wake up people.

Sweden is just a front for law enforcement in the USA. The entire goal of this disgusting show is to get him on US soil where he will be "disappeared". They can't directly ship him to Gitmo and start the water boarding, but they can do the equivalent without leaving the continental USA.

It will go something like this. First, they will try and stall for a few days and pretend he is still in Swedish custody. In fact, he will already be buried in some black facility in the US. Then, after he can't be found the US will deny that they have him. That will make it much more difficult for his lawyers to force the courts to grant him his basic rights, like the right to an attorney.

This could literally drag on for years. Given that the security courts have, as far as anyone knows, never stopped the authorities from doing whatever the hell they want, it will be like he dropped off the face of the earth.

Meanwhile, he will be tortured. It will be somewhat less physical then Gitmo because they will at some point need to show that he is still breathing and can say a sentence with words of no more then two syllables. But as far as destroying him mentally, they will do whatever they think they can get away with.

The goal is not to find out about the leaks, the goal is to make an example and act out their rage. Make no doubt, these people are perverts in a sexual sense. They derive very intense personal pleasure from the destruction of their enemies. They're seriously deranged.

If he is never seen again then it will be because someone got carried away and killed him. That would not be their plan, but we all know how that actually works out. How many innocent people did they kill looking for Bin Laden? They have admitted less then ten so far, but it seems likely it was in the hundreds or even thousands. Seriously, they killed one person because he was tall and had a beard and was somewhere that was a possible Bin Laden hideout (i.e. somewhere in Iraq or Pakistan or Syria or Lebanon or ...) Once they realized it was some random guy, they just went "oops"and never even bothered to contact his family and take any responsibility. "We wus looking for the bad guy, so suck it up"

So back to the question: how long will it take for him to be "extraordinarily rendered" to the US? There should be a betting pool. A good bet would be that he doesn't even sleep in Sweden. That would leave the smallest footprint for a cover up.

Of course, the real problem with running that pool is that it could take decades to determine the winners. Or there will never be a winner. In some sense a complete disappearance makes it easy, because they want him to be forgotten. That would be a real victory in their eyes.

Hungary nationalists whip up anti-Roma feelings

This summer has seen an escalation of tension in parts of Hungary where ethnic Magyars live next to Roma (Gypsies) - tension exploited by the extreme right-wing Jobbik party and its allies.

The authorities are not enforcing laws banning the incitement of hatred, leaving Roma to face abuse by paramilitaries linked to Jobbik, which won 16% of the vote in the 2010 election.

Jobbik won a local election in the northeastern town of Gyongyospata last year after neo-Nazi thugs invaded and terrified Roma residents. The party is now targeting areas outside its northeastern heartland.

Hungary has an estimated 800,000 Roma, in a population of 10 million.

According to Krisztian Szabados of Political Capital, a Budapest think-tank, the issue of anti-Roma feeling has been swept under the carpet by all governments elected since the transition to democracy. "Inter-racial relations are a ticking bomb that's going to explode in the foreseeable future," he said.

The western Hungarian village of Devecser is still recovering from the caustic red sludge that swamped it in 2010 - toxic waste from an aluminium plant. But on 5 August there was a different kind of flood - 1,000 neo-Nazi demonstrators linked to Jobbik, angry at the Roma.

"You are going to die here!" the marchers shouted, throwing their water bottles and stones at what they thought might be Roma homes.
