*shrug* I do not like the Australian law, as
it goes a step beyond wiretapping and search
and siezure, into a realm where the government
can get thoughts and ideas never intended for
its consumption, and with possibly no physical
basis (ie, no pipe bombs or assault rifles).
I would prefer for the distinction between
S&S and wiretapping to remain unblurred, for
a law enforcement agency to stand behind its
theories of malfeasance by one of its citizens
by _siezing_ the said computer, and _then_
modifying it. Cracking a computer and diddling
its data comes _very_ close to entrapment, but
such protections may not exist in Australia.
(I am not familiar with your legal system)

As for the comment on the NSA: It acts in foreign
countries under its own directorship (and probably
from CIA and NRO requests, also). Inside the
United States, it operates under the supervision
of the FBI, which must obtain search orders for
    such activities.

Thankfully, there is now a distributor selling
copies of OpenBSD 2.6 in australia, check out
