I use Huntington and I just was able to download my entire transaction history since mid 2009 (When I opened the account). It took two date ranges to get it, but the information is there and available.
If you're oging to be accessing your data from online enabled computers try a good online storage solution. They often cost less than the portable drives or keychains and there's nothing to get lost or stolen.
That isn't to say they haven't (since the first movie) uncovered data that wasn't destroyed. Perhaps the news networks had offsite backups of their archives.
