  1. Linuxtweaks.org on Linux Tuning Repository · · Score: 0
I as well am developing a site with the domain "linuxtweaks.org". It will be a repository of all kinds of linux tips and tweaks (hopefully :-), but we are currently waiting on hosting and getting some content ready, rather than just an empty site. The "template" is at linuxtweaks.the-den.org. Funny thing is, this site seems to have a VERY similar layout to mine, and I started work on mine about 2 days after I learned of the "Mindcraft Debacle". Oh well...

  2. Very good performance on Linux Q3Atest Released · · Score: 1

For a beta, the performance is excellent. I am running an AMD K6-2 300, with 128meg RAM, one 8meg VooDoo2, and 640x480 and 800x600 is very very smooth. The effects are amazing (especially wall markings, IMO), and the two maps that come with it show off quite a lot of the features.
    Way to go id Software!

  3. theos.net or theos.org... on Segfault and User Friendly threatened · · Score: 1
They could have theos.com and give theos.net or theos.org to Theo, right?

I don't think so... from what I read, it sounds like they will allow him to register any domain name that does NOT contain Theos in it at all... therefore theos.net and theos.org are out. that's bullsh*t if you ask me, but what do I know?

  4. A little bit of fun... on Seriously Overpriced Books · · Score: 1

perhaps as a joke, all /. readers should pretend they actually read the book (ya, like we really would) and write up a review. would probably be rather humourous for amazon.com to get a whole slew of bad reviews for the book. HA!

  6. From experience, I'm not surprised at BA... on BellAtlantic ADSL absurdity · · Score: 1

I used to work for AT&T Worldnet Service as a tech support guy, and I had some real problems with support boundaries (that's part of the reason I don't work there anymore). For instance, our company would provide software to customers so they can setup the service on a WinCE system, but we didn't support it. Nor did we support MacOS 8.0 even though our entire Mac support department knew how to support it and tried explaining that it really isn't much different than MacOS 7.x something or other. Bah... it's all scripted and pounded into your head and the techs really don't know much more than what they're told (except for some rare few like myself who would support anything). It's really sad, almost all tech support drones are just that... drones, reading scripts and never deviating from them.
