    you know what would ACTUALLY cure cancer?

    if you stop pouring cancer-causing chemicals into the air and water. we know FOR A FACT that air pollution leads directly to asthma and cancer deaths, and yet every year these money sucking scumfucks push and push and bribe politicians so that they wont have to clean it up, so they can keep their profits and their mansions and their trophy wives and their cocaine habits.

    there might have been no mass cadres of Communists from all over the world coming to France to study, and then spreading their bullshit over the earth like in Cambodia.

    all in all, if France had taken care of it's own business in 1776 instead of trying to dominate the planet with colonialism, there would be tens of millions of people living out normal lives instead of dying in stupid wars.

    then again, this demonstrates the utter stupidity of trying to say 'there would have been xyz' in history.

    like the other poster said below, the 'monopolism' in this case does not come from their size, it comes from their abuse of the court system and the patent system.

    the AT&T splitup was supposed to promote competition. it wasnt just about 'breaking up a big company'.

    if you split Apple into an 'OS' and 'hardware' busines, you arent really busting a monopoly. your action has to help competitors to have a level playing field. otherwise you aren't really 'busting' anything, nor are you helping to promote the fairness of the marketplace.

    they have replaced it with newer stuff. see for example NSA's Thinthread, Trailblazer, and Turbulence projects.

    i dont know much about the biometrics in Afghanistan, the first step would be figuring out which agency is responsible for gathering the data, then figuring out which agency is responsible for storing the data.

    information. there are certain types of classified information that are a crime in certain situations, and none of them apply to manning.

    you can go read the actual laws, starting with the Espionage Act, which doesnt even use the word 'classified' until you get to the SIGINT part (and he isnt charged with the SIGINT part)

    then you can read the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, which is an embarassement, but also doesnt use the word 'classified'.

    if you want to know WHY there is no law, its because most congressmen and presidents leak classified information all the time, every news story you have ever read or book containing words like 'senior officials tell us' and so forth and so on is someone leaking classified information for a political purpose.

    according to James Bamford's books, especially the last two, they actually did have a chip foundry, they have been at the top of several supercomputer programs, and they are the only reason that CRAY survived in a capitalist economy where massive supercomputing R&D doesn't have a quick ROI.

    the difference here is that Ford is pretending that a 12 year old frying his motherboard while trying to improve his Call of Duty framerate is going to have the same safety and legal consequences as someone half-frying their car's computer systems, leaving it with partially updated software or some other kind of screwed up half-installed patch.
