  1. Re:Not exactly a new idea... on Uplink · · Score: 1, Funny

Uh.... i don't know what Hacker you've been playing, or what Uplink you've been playing, but I don't recall pushing a little remote vehicle all over fucking La-La Land according to arbitrary paths in a grid when I was playing Uplink.

  2. Media OS on Linux On Alpha To Power Streaming Media Boxes · · Score: 1

If we're lucky, this new application may actually help remove the notion that "linux is not a media OS". The SMBs might help propel Linux into the mainstream...

    Or not.

Actually, about NASCAR... Yes, NASCAR uses restrictor plates. That is because most cars can breach 220 easily on tracks such as Talladega. If an accident occurs, that extra speed can very much kill someone that goes nose-first into the wall.
However, on the smaller tracks, they go without plates, because they need all the acceleration that an engine can get them.
    Race on!

This would actually be an awesome device -- i'd be able to stay up all night browsing for po--RESEARCHING, and my parents wouldn't be awakened by 'click-click-click-clack-clack-clack-click-BOOOP!'
Now, if only i could figure out a way to make my little pseudo-PC's pseudo-internal speaker not beep really loudly ... ;)

  5. Miscellaneous (sp?) on Ask Douglas Adams About...Everything · · Score: 1

Mr. Adams, a couple of questions:

    1) Which day do you think we should all take out the trash? I'm leaning towards Thursdays (I never could get the hang of Thursdays) but I cannot decide.

    2) The BBC airings of the miniseries-of-sorts version of the Guide trilogy stayed very close to the books. Did you have control over the project, or did the makers just not put down your books?

    3) If you could be a lunchmeat, what kind would you be?

    4) If (and if) a sixth Trilogy book comes out, will you consider changing the "trilogy" concept to "sexiligy" (heeheehee)?

    5) How are you able to keep all the universes and co-existing slices of Mish-Mash together in your head as you write? I can understand how it would be difficult to do so. Share your secrets!

    6) Do you prefer tea, or coffee?
