  1. A new FPS? id has lost it. on id Software Announces Development Of Doom III · · Score: 1
I thougth Graeme Devine stated that id's next game would NOT be a FPS? Is this all id can do anymore is rehash their past success?

I love the company and their games, but do they have some kind of gamers block? It's bad enough that they release a SDK for Quake III but don't support it, because the "community" of Quake fans will figure it out. Well, that's crap.

Why can't they learn from Unreal Turnament? Create new game types, support your community and actively seek out new amateur developers. Quake III Arena had a definite air of a rushed project. They seem to think that slapping the id logo on something makes it an instant hit, they can always put in the missing pieces with a mission pack.

id defined the FPS genre. They are some of the most creative programmers and artists in the game industry. Show some of that creativity and make something NEW instead of just putting prettier pictures on the same old concepts.

What, Greenpeace is gonna start pitching a fit because we want to alter the atmosphere of mars? I guess the support equipment left behind after a mission is going to promote littering or something.
Mankind's need to explore and expand cannot be contained. This will happen. But I cannot see how there can be any moral conflict with altering the atmosphere of a dead (until proven otherwise) world. The sooner we can start spreading out to other planets is the sooner we can give this one some relief.
Move all our polution causing industry there, I say. The greenhouse gasses can help warm the atmosphere. Outlaw mining on Earth and move it off planet. Start colonies and reduce the population here.
We can't start converting Mars' atmosphere fast enough.
