This is just a way for them to be able to purchase (and trade) renewable energy at a large scale so they can offset their carbon footprint. Remember, electricity has to be one of their largest inputs.

What would be better is for those who are concerned about Google's omnipotent presence to set up a customer satisfaction questionnaire that measures how likely people would be to recommend them - whether or not they felt they still need to use them.
