If you want to make a post that gets modded up don't attach it a random post and go offtopic. Well unless you show us some nude video of Natalie Portman or something.
My point was Real is an annoyance Windows users install if they have to get videos off the 0.001% of sites that are "Real" required.
I never came across any content that I wanted to access that Windows Media Player + Divx etc couldn't access.
So why do I want Real or OSS variant? Their encoding is shitty and their realtime streaming is even shittier.
I made a post however many years ago about 3dfx and how it is retarded to do SLI style setups. Of course back in the day you needed to spend fuck knows how much on Dual Voodoo cards and also a proper graphics card to handle 95% of what you did.
My opinions still hold true, i'll wait a month or two for the next GPU and get a single card version.
I've just switched my desktop OS from XP to Linux, when I was running XP I had no compunction to install Real as Media Player + assorted codecs played everything I wanted.
So am I correct in assuming Real realizes (*bum bum*) that they have lost the windows player war and are grasping at OSS to save them?
A lot of people aren't missing the point, this is basically retarded. I don't like Microsoft having my username and password, but I guess they probably spend enough money to make it basically secure.
As an alternative I should remove my personal details from Microsoft and give them to some Cheech and Chong outfit?
That makes no sense to me at all. I bet it makes even less sense to my parents.
This article is retarded and this project is retarded.
Has been remade before as Klass of 99 - which is very close to the original.
Funnily enough, the only thing educational I remember about the original was it was set in an educational institution. It was inspired by those early to mid twentieth century British schoolboy tales of japes and pranks.
I saw spaceshipone on the bbc the other day, so he definately has hearts and minds.
IMO, it is a great design, great paintjob and all round cool. Good for Carmack that he has the time and cash to do something that is interesting to him, but Spaceship One is a no brainer in this cometition.
Exactly! That's what I try to get across to my co workers - Coca Cola will never be able to match the thirst quenching ability of Sprite. (Though I tend to cringe when I think about making Sprite floats.)
...you how to race cars, not drive them. The racing line is probably not the most useful thing to know unless you want to blast round a hairpin at 90mph.
But if you insist then i'd point at:
Anything by Geoff Crammond Sega F40 Gran Turismo
But they aren't helpful to learn much about driving, and especially real world driving.
I had a look at the nvidia driver for FreeBSD and it looked like it lagged somewhat behind the Linux driver, but that combined with trying to make games work in the compat layer just means it's too much hassle to use as a desktop, I actually have a couple of VM's locally running Debian and FreeBSD, i'm sure it won't hurt to have another with Gentoo to have a look at how it's laid out and play with portage.
a while back I was hunting around for info on distributions that were similar to FreeBSD and came across an article by the guy behind gentoo, and how portage was inspired from ports - so that looks good to.
I'm thinking about killing off my Windows box at home and switching over, i've admined a ton of FreeBSD boxes over the years and i'm really comfortable with the way things are laid out - but Linux has better drivers for nVidia and suchlike, so that kind of made my choice for me.
So how is Gentoo? Is it laid out logically and stuff? I've been trying a really cut down version of Debian which seems pretty decent.
Hell, I was almost going to roll my own BSD/Linux and lay everything out / clone install scripts from BSD but that's too much hassle.
but with a 2d antenna the strongest signal will always be perpendicular, you cant count on some random rock happening to bounce a muted signal in the correct direction.
if that was the case everyone would point their satelite dishes in whatever direction and place rocks around it until the signal was strong enough.
I know this, it looks like Unix

owned. it's a shame noone understood what I meant.
oh wait, they did. redefining english on the fly r us.
I used it once, want a definition of the word once?
Try learning words in context of the sentences they are presented in and not according to the strict definition in an online dictionary.
the phrase "no compunction" suggests no feel of uneasiness or no sting of conscience.
which is correct, windows media player played all I wanted and installing real would just give me stupid advertisements etc.
go back to school.

Of course not! One card need a COMPUTER with a 400 W powersupply. There's a lot more than a graphics bord that needs power in a computer.
The leprechauns instantly spring to mind.
You could wait 3-4 weeks and pick up a SLI capable card that is four times as fast as a dual card setup and save $900 doing so.

I distrust them, i guess thats an automatic reaction as they are not me and not people I say hello too everyday.
I don't know you or your mom, but you were on slashdot - can I store my credit card details with you?

Would I want to put my personal details on another site that every man and his dog can access? Or am I missing the point completely?

Being able to play Quake on Linux doesn't make it a viable gaming platform. The vast majority of PC games don't work on it.
To draw a parallel...
Exactly! That's what I try to get across to my co workers - Coca Cola will never be able to match the thirst quenching ability of Sprite. (Though I tend to cringe when I think about making Sprite floats.)
My bad, it was F355

No better way to make commutes fun :)
yeah but everything they play on juliaset sounds the same, it's all just a variation on a theme.
don't shoot the messenger, the article refers it to a helix.
But thats a Software / OS issue right? It it strikes me if MS realises this with Intel prodding them then in a few years it wont be such an issue.

to describe a 2d cube, take a photo of a cube face on. congratulations you have one.
to describe a 2d helix, take a photo of one, concgrats you have one.
its basically a sin wave qith a specific frequency.
