IMHO, there is a difference between having a thought, that you created, with someone else's thought, or idea, or information.
You still took something that someone else created, something which was created with the intent, of not sharing for free.
If you take something that was not meant to be given for free by the creator, what is it?
Why does it matter if it is information?
If you don't want to pay for it, then create your own version. Write or develop your own code.
