I am a Windows admin, but a couple of years ago I went on this 'cross-.training' crusade. I tried Redhat and it didn't appeal to me. The usergroups were useless.
Linux distros break all the rules; every damn one is different. Help is sparse,so usergroups,friends and websources are it. Ubuntu came out and it was easy to navigate so I'm venturing into it deeper. A GUI is about the only way to start because most people,except old bastards like me are crippled at the command line.
My sugestion? Install Windows apply the updates, then boot live to Linux distros until you find the one you like. I'm using Ubunto dual booted w/ Windows and I have SuSE running on a Dell.
Go for Ubuntu.

And yes I know corporations consist of people. They are still allowed to speak, as individuals.

Corporations do not speak as individuals or speak as individuals thought they legally behave as one.A corporation concens itself with its Board and C section. You can count on both hands the number of corporations who have a conscience and give a damn about anything other than thier spresheets and the most nefarious of all professionals- the CPA. We should burn them all at the stake.
Since I'm a Saints fan and we just made Peyton Manning piss his pants,I'm in a really good mood. The Crown Royal helped....The Google ad painted an exceptional picture of just how well connected we are to the Web. You mean there are other search engines - other than Bing?
