So you think proper software does need to be tuned to work right so everything in the world is the same? and all mail servers should be treated the same? That is very flawed logic I must say. You just ruined the whole model of linux and unix in one blast. The main reason must be use linux/unix is because they can tune it to the needs they have not what someones else thought was a good idea like having a windows webserver that requires a GUI just to boot. Your logic is the most flawed I have seen. There is no need for a IT Union if there ever became one I would be one of the first people to leave this industry because that will be the first sign of decline. When you have unions you end up with things like I cannot move that power cord on the floor because it is another union I have to sit here until that union shows up and moves it for me. So to put in IT speak. It wold be liking having the wait for the network union to show up to plug you network cable into the wall before you can use it and god forbid you plug it in yourself. You will be branded as a job stealer and most likely find that your network will stop working for no reason and unable to get it to work. Also all that cross training you use to get where you could learn how to be a DBA or a sysadmin or a network admin. Forget it will all be locked up in that union. You will only do what your allowed to do. Cause if you think that it would only be 1 big IT union you are nuts each little group would stand theirs up because the other don't understand their problems. Now Think about that.

But either way you go must people in poltics are rich and will get richer but the democrats try to make is sound like they are poor and only want to help the poor. Just because you don't like your job is no reason for saying that sysadming is an awful thing to do . I have been a sysadmin for 4 years and I love me job . Also I don't know what company you work for but at mine the sysadmins get paied a hell of lots more the programmers. Heck I make more than the woman that has 25 years of programming exp. why because there are fewer of us sysadmins and thus more valuable. And guess what I also have no degree I did spend 3 year at collage in which I learned alot it was just never in class. But I tell everyone that will listen that this is not the path they should take because just because it worked for me doesn't mean it will work for them . People just have to make up their own minds.

This seems to be the problem . If they use word they should tell you to submit your resume in word format . If not they should have the skills to import the document. It is this kind of keep your head in the sand attitude that is work with Buisness world.
First of all Our Bill of Rights is old and outdated. Would you really trust medical care from 1776 ? I think not. The people in the UK have it right when they let their constitution evovle and not stagnate. America is just full of people who won't take responsibility for their own actions , we just want someone or something to blame that isn't us.
