Haven't they had relatively low power, daylight-readable color screens for a while? The question is how their power drain compares to e-ink. When the Notion Ink Adam comes out, we'll see if it's a viable replacement for a real e-reader.
The gestures for this prototype require way too much effort and are too slow for the simplest tasks. One wave = one tap = one press of a key. You need to use your whole arm, not just one finger. They haven't implemented circular motion recognition for extended scrolling. Can you imagine a review of this device? "It was neat for the first minute, but my arm got tired after scrolling through the first picture album. If you need to rid yourself of some underarm flab, this device is for you. Everyone else, stay away."
If two or more sub-critical intensity lasers were fired at a single point at a distance, would the cascade of gamma-ray photons created in the collision be of significant destructive capacity to justify all this setup or would it just cause the lasers to disperse and fizzle out?
Doesn't he realize that current MMO model is already perfect as it is, as an endless revenue generating device? No other form of digital entertainment can top the inimitable success of World of Warcraft's eternal cash grind. The subtleties of the conflicts and drama caused by XP distribution rules based on real market economics serve a noble purpose: to increase the realism, immersion, and playtime of the subscriber to keep them coming back for more of the realpolitik of hamster-wheel mechanics month after month. By freeing up the restraints on rewards, he risks alienating those who play these games to develop their societical diplomacy skills in parallel with their real lives, which inevitably tend towards either tribalism or isolationism anyway.
I say that there can be peace between Ebert's definition of art and artistic games. Traditional games made to be won can contain such scenes or elements that invoke wonder and awe but that does not make the game, its strategy or gameplay art. Games themselves, however, can be art if they artistically make a point about games in such a way that invokes wonder or awe.
I just bought glasses from Zenni Optical after seeing my roommate's from the same website and they are super sharp and clear. I didn't favor any of the styles they had for memory titanium frames, but the plain steel frames I got seem well constructed. I paid $5 for anti-glare coating, $5 for shipping, and it still only came out to $23. Other websites I've looked at have a starting price of $40.
I am only slightly short-sighted, but my roommate is legally blind. We're both happy with our glasses.
This is better than Wacom because you get all this extra sensitivity without the pen. It's easier to manufacture and something they didn't mention, which seems possible to me, is flexible touch displays in the future due to this screen type not needing an air gap to function. This is about so much more than writing.

And now, because of the Slashdot feature, experts are certain the moon will crumble and rain down hellfire on us in a few years.

Bind right gesture to Alt+Right, left gesture to Alt+Left to use gestures in any browser, even Explorer.
The real problem facing physicists right now is the lack of a Fermilab in Australia to confirm such a possibility.
